Consequences 1

"Bye Keith," I said as he left the door.
"Bye Jessie," he called back, walking toward his Jeep.
I sighed and closed the door.
Keith was my boyfriend. He was a very sweet, kind, intelligent, funny guy, but there was something missing...ah yes. Attraction. I guess i considered him more of a good friend than a boyfriend. But I lived with it. I had been for 2 years. Sometimes, it seems like he likes me more than I like him. Who knows? I certainly didn't.
Well the thing was: he was leaving to play some games with the basketball team for 2 weeks.
I looked up at my bulletin board at the 4 pieces of paper tacked up upon it. Concert tickets. *N Sync was to be performing. I was excited since we got backstage passes. My roomate and best friend Heather and I were going. The concert was in a week and a half.
After changing into my silk pajamas, I fell asleep.
<<>><<>>
"C'mon Jessie!" Heather cried, running like blazes in our apartment, fixing herself up.
I put my book down and looked at the clock. "Heather, there's an hour and a half left!"
"So get moving!"
I sighed and went to my room to change.
<<>><<>>
I looked at myself in the mirror. My black hair was just unbraided so it looked zig zaggy. I was wearing a short black skirt, a tight, ruby red tank top with a scoop neck, and black heeled, chunky soled, strappy sandals.
Taking a glance at Heather I saw what she was wearing. She had tight black superflares and a short midnight blue tube top. Her long blonde hair was swept up on top of her head, random curly tendrils falling to her face. She had the identical shoes as me, except for the fact that her's were an inch taller than mine, given that she was shorter than me.
"C'mon!" she rushed, holding her keys.
I laughed and followed her to her dark blue PT cruiser.
<<>><<>>
"Bye, bye, bye!" they sang as they exited.
Heather and I got up, regardless of the fact that their performance was first and there were more.
We showed the guards our passes and they let us through to the corridor.
I knocked on the door.
When the knob turned, i tensed.
It turns out Lance opened the door.
"Hey!" he greeted, obviously relieved that we werent the young fans he thought we were gonna be.
 "Hey," we replied.
"Come in!" he invited, stepping out of the way.
 "Thanks."
I looked around. They were all on the couch, panting. They still wore the black wifebeaters and the baby blue pants.
'They are so hot'
"Hey!" they greeted.
"Hey," I said. Noticing that I was the only voice, I looked at Heather. Her eyes were fixed on something.
Following her gaze, I saw that she was staring at Lance.
 I smiled.
"So who are you girls?" asked Joey.
"I'm Jessica. This is my friend Heather," I introduced.
"You guys must be tired from standin," JC interrupted. "Have a seat."
"Thanks," I said, walking over to him and sitting to his right.
 My mind screamed.
Heather sat down next to me, next to Lance. Figures.
"Hey Chris, lemme tell ya somethin'!" Justin laughed.
 "What?" I asked out loud.
"Nothin'. Just some crap Joey said," Justin explained.
Heather and I laughed when Joey's elbow made contact with Justin's stomach.
 "Not...funny..." he gasped.
I held my laughter back. "Sorry Justin."
"So how was the show?" JC asked, shattering my concentration.
"It was da bomb!" I smiled.
"Good." Then he bent over and whispered, "Does your friend like Lance or somethin'?"
 I looked over at her.
"I would say so. She's got one 'o her dazed looks."
 We laughed quietly.
"What chy'all laughin' about?" Justin asked.
 "Nothing."
 "Suure," they chorused.
"So...you girls doin' anything later?" Joey asked.
 "Actually, no."
"Wanna go clubbin' wit us?" he asked.
"Yeah! Wanna go wit us?" Chris asked in a child-like voice. Then he became serious. "Just watch out for Joey here. He's dangerous!"
I chuckled when Joey glared at him.
"I CAN be if you dont shut up!"
Chris quivered in mock fear. "Ooh I'm shaking my my boxers!"
I laughed along with the others when Joey chased Chris around the room, making small threats.
They finally sat down and silence filled the room.
"So... any 'o y'all wanna go to that club?" Joey asked.
 "Sure," I agreed.
"We ah goin' clubbin'!" Justin said, jumping up to his feet.
I smiled. It was getting easier and easier to talk to these guys.
"Ok, but we gotta be back before 1:30," JC warned.
 "They werent kidding," I muttered.
"What was that Jessie?" JC asked.
 "Nothing."
 "OK. We're goin'."
"Aren't you guys gonna change?" Heather asked.
 "Duh!" Joey and Chris shouted.
I laughed and waited for their return.
"Did you see that?" Heather asked excitedly.
 "See what?"
 "JC smile at you!"
"So? He does that to about a million people a day."
"The WAY that he smiled at you. I think somebody's got a crush!"
I rolled my eyes. "What about you and Lance?"
 "What about him?"
"You were staring at him the whole time Heather. Even JC noticed."
 "So? That's just staring."
 "Sure Heather sure."
"Y'all ready?" Chris asked, stepping out of the changing room.
He was wearing a black muscle shirt and khakis, Joey wore a red FUBU jersey and khaki shorts, Justin wore a green and blue tye dye shirt and black cargos, JC wore a dark muscle shirt with black khakis, and Lance-being the casual one-had to wear a white Nike shirt and baggy jeans.
 Heather and I stood up.
JC held out his arm, which I took.
I glanced at Heather, who had Lance's. She grinned and mouthed, 'I told you so!'
 'Shut up!' I mouthed back.
She just laughed and walked off.
"So where do you live?" JC asked.
 "In northern Orlando."
"We live around there," he responded.
 "Awesome."
"Here's my rental car. Now c'mon."
I opened the door of the black Acura and sank in the seat.
 <<>><<>>
Our hips ground hard together as we danced. JC was a better dancer than I thought.
As Une Noche ended, we sat down at the bar.
I looked at my watch. It read 11:04.
 'Wow. It's that late already?'
 Then another song came on.
Come on over, come on over baby...
I pulled JC to the dance floor.
 <<>><<>>
I'm gonna love you right cuz all I want is you!
I smiled at the end of the song, but grew nervous as a slow song came on.
I looked up at JC, unsure of what to do.
He put his arms around my waist.
Relieved that I didnt have to make the first move, I put my arms around his neck.
La la la ho...
 When I try to describe
How I feel when you hold me
 I get butterflies
 I hear lullabies
 It's hard to explain
Like the scent of a rose
Or the sound of the rain
 It's too precious
 And too wonderful
 To give it a name
 Too beautiful for words
 A symphony inside me
 Too beautiful for words
 I cannot take them lightly
Can you hear my silent heart?
On the tip of my tongue
But my lips are still sealed
 Only violins and their renasence
Could show you how i feel
 And I hear them again
At the end of the day
 I'm all teary eyed
 When we kiss goodbye
 There's nothing I can't take
 Too beautiful for words
 A symphony inside me
 Too beautiful for words
 I cannot take them lightly
Oh can you hear my silent heart
 Must be a million times
I try to express this love of mine
 When it goes this deep
 When it tastes this sweet
 It's not easy to define
 Too beautiful for words
 A symphony inside me
 Too beautiful for words
Can you hear my silent heart?
I smiled as the song ended, i didnt want to let go, but i knew i had to.
JC looked down at me and whispered, "You wanna go?"
 I nodded.
 <<>><<>>
"Where are we going?" I asked him.
We drove on a road with barely anyone on it, except for cars coming around every 10 minutes.
 "You'll see."
I sighed and looked at my watch. It was already midnight.
'Where the heck can we go at midnight?
<<>><<>>
 "We're here," JC announced.
 "We're where?"
I had only moved to Orlando 2 months ago and I didn't know the place very well.
"Here," he said simply, taking my hand.
I felt my sandals sink into something soft.
 'The beach?'
 "Just a little more..."
Then I saw it. We were on a cliff over the beach below. There was a cloudless, blue black sky, a full moon shining on the waves, pounding into each other then crashing onto the shore, creating a soft, comforting sound.
"God this place is beautiful," I gasped, stepping closer to the edge.
"I know. I used to come here to think when I was younger."
The moon reminded me of the Chinese Moon Festival, when the moon was bright, full, and big.
I looked up and stared hard at the moon.
"What are you doing? Having a staring contest with the moon?" JC laughed.
"The Chinese people say when the moon is like this, young women can look at it and see the man they're gonna marry. This is my first time trying it though. I think it's a little weird," I laughed.
"No, no. Try it," he encouraged me.
 "Ok..." I agreed.
So I looked up at the moon, feeling very stupid, but almost magically, a picture drew itself on the moon's face. First I could see his eyes, deep and soft. Then they disappeared. Next was his mouth, a genuine smile, after they vanished, I saw his hair, standing up and wavy. Next was his head. It was an oval. Just as I was gonna see his whole face, JC interrupted.
 "What'd you see?" he asked.
THe picture dissolved as I looked at him.
 "What?"
"What. Did. You. See?" he said slowly.
I didn't answer. I was looking at his face with a closeness. His eyes, his mouth, his face...
'No way. Not possible. Can't be...'
 "Jessie?"
 "Oh. Uh, nothing."
Then what's the harm of telling him one thing?
 "Well, I saw one thing..."
 "What?" he asked.
 "His eyes. His beautiful eyes."
He smiled. "Hope you find him."
 "I do too..."
