Propaganda as Art and Science
Introduction
Propaganda is both art and science. As the two facets cannot be easily separated, this feature will examine both. Forced separation would result in breaking. Propaganda as Art is the 20th Century’s most important art product. As a science, propaganda ranks highly as well. Other artistic forms are mostly decadent. (Although propaganda can be so as well.) Under dictatorships, the most talented artists create propaganda. Other artistic outlets are chocked or pointless. In the West, the most talented artists go into advertising. Other artistic outlets are too competitive to be worth the return or pointless. The artist reinforces the verbal world of its target audience. Imagery and song add new dimensions. Novels and manifestos utilize art as contact vectors. However, without science the means of dissemination would be highly limited, and without direction thus enabling mass influence without direct contact. The following features are general discussions of propaganda, and historical and present topics. Some background information on each topic (often propaganda in its own right) is included. The examples feature links to various propaganda sources, and could be examples of Propaganda as Art and Science (no matter how mediocre). I use the term propaganda neutrally as a descriptive term. I do not necessarily endorse or condone the following. The examples will be updated periodically.
