検事や

久利生公平は元不良で中卒、大検を受け、司法試験に合格し検事になった。服装はダークスーツではないラフな格好。エリート検事にはない、ストリートで養った独自のカンとクレバーさを持っている。

　物語は彼が青森から東京地検の城西支部の刑事部に赴任するところから始まる。当然のことながら、古い習慣にとらわれ、出世や保身ばかり気にする他の検事や事務官たちと軋轢が生まれる。

The story starts from the place where he from Aomori assumes a new post to the criminal section of Tokyo area inspection Josai branch. 雨宮舞子は事務官だが、ゆくゆくは副検事になることに希望を持っている。仕事に一途で、いわゆるカタイ女性の典型。上層思考の強い舞子は、優秀と噂されている久利生公平の事務官に立候補。しかし実際の久利生の姿を目にしたら、彼の破天荒な仕事ぶりに驚き、あきれるばかり・・・.

　そのほか、検事には中村美鈴、江上達夫、そして主任検事の芝山貢、事務官の末次隆之、遠藤賢司、刑事部部長の牛丸豊、がいる。彼らも、久利生が事件の大小関係なく熱心に捜査したり、ラフな服装で仕事をしたりする姿に違和感を覚え、彼のことが理解できない。唯一、次席検事の鍋島利光だけは、久利生公平に期待を寄せているのだが・・・。
