Niki has spent some time in harness, but she was never any good. She has even been in a race! She only went a couple miles before refusing to go any further and had to be loaded into the sled bag. There she napped away most of the 40 mile race until they were almost to the finish line. At that point Mike got disgusted and threw her back on the gangline where she happily trotted the rest of the way to the finish. Her alert and lively attitude at the finish line impressed the onlookers who remarked on what an excellent dog she must be compared to her teammates who seemed quite tired!
Niki is now winding down her career of being Princess of the Universe. Her ear-splitting whine when she doesn't get her way has lost some of its volume and is starting to approach a tolerable level. She can no longer beat up the other dogs, so she tries to pretend she didn't want to anyway. She needs help to get into the cab of the truck where she can oversee the working dogs and get more beauty sleep. Niki enjoys short walks, plenty of food, and naps in the shade.
