Hazel came to us as a yearling and jumped right into the main team the following year. She ran the Race To The Sky in 2002 and was dropped at the last checkpoint with sore feet. She has run all the smaller races that we do, including West Yellowstone, Seeley Lake, and Philipsburg. In 2004 she also did tours, leading a 6-dog team with 2-3 people on the sled.
Hazel had the speed to run with my top quality Alaskans, and I used her extensively for training young leaders. She is light on her feet and can go all day. Her sweet personality makes her a real favorite.
Hazel now lives with Lev Shvarts, who has a small team of Siberians that he is building into a distance racing team.
