Goldie was pressed into service as a sled dog when Mike's Seppalas were getting too old to race. She never could be leash trained, and she pulls like mad at slow speeds. Mike trained her as a leader, and she led his team on many slow but enjoyable runs.
Goldie has competed in many races, including Seeley Lake, Polebridge, Philipsburg, and the 2001 Race To The Sky. Goldie is too slow for our current racing teams, and she is slower than ever now that old age is creeping up on her. Nonetheless, she did join the tour team for a few runs in 2004 at the age of 12 years old.
Goldie appears to be sound and healthy, and while she can no longer keep up even with the puppies, she does not appear to have calmed down with age, and she still will not walk on a leash.
