Fresca was one of the first group of sled dogs that I bought in 2000 from Jim Orvis. At that time she was a two year old leader who had a lot of enthusiasm but lacked that top end speed that was needed on Jim's open class sprint team.
That first winter that I worked with her, Fresca learned many basic skills such as holding the line out and obeying commands. Every year she has just gotten better and tougher.
From our second winter together until the present time, Fresca has been in lead for every mile of every race that I have done. She has tremendous endurance and resilience and never seems to get hurt.
Fresca was a natural choice to lead on the Olympic Torch Relay in 2002.
Fresca is a very sweet, submissive dog. All the other dogs love her, and she is also an excellent house pet.
