Pop Psychology Part 8: O What a Tangled Web We Weave
This will be a relatively short one, I think.
(That previous statement completely pushed the boundaries regarding the term "exaggerate," but is everyone getting the general idea?)
The reason I'm asking is that just talking to fans and the general populace of people in general, the basic state of mind is that *NSYNC are dishonest in their words more often than not, and that more often than not we as fans are better off not trusting their interviews and not taking for fact the words that come out of their mouths...and I honestly can't remember any particular statement they have made which turned out to be an intentional and deceitful untruth.
I understand the preconception that people have with celebrities, really I do. And I certainly don't live under the impression that everything *NSYNC says is going to be 9999999% accurate and truthful, especially on their personal lives or personally affairs...I mean, no amount of self-delusion can I plant upon myself to ensure that state of mind. However, when Chris says something like "I took my friends out for a bite the other day." and people go "No he didn't. He didn't take his friends out for any bites. LIAR." you gotta start wondering what is up with the paranoia around here. Some people just analyze every *NSYNC-spoken word to death and don't trust anything that they say...business, personal, or otherwise...and I just wonder how and when the heck people have gotten so paranoid.
Take the practical aspect of it first of all. If we don't trust anything that they say, then what are we supposed to trust concerning *NSYNC? What the media says? Gossip? Rumors? Ourselves? I mean seriously, if fans live under the state of mind that the things *NSYNC says aren't true unless we think they're true, that literally means that we make up what we want to believe about *NSYNC.
That's called delusion, boys and girls, and I dunno about the rest of y'all but that's too much mental work for me personally;).
How exactly people have gotten this way is beyond me. And people certainly are entitled to believe whatever they want about how honest *NSYNC are on a daily basis without me getting all lecture-y about it(I find that I've been rather lecture-y lately
), I'm just boggled with the logic of it all...just how often are *NSYNC accused of being dishonest and deceitful to us upfront? A lot of times, right? And just how many times have *NSYNC been directly dishonest and deceitful to us upfront, hmm? Seriously name one time. It's a rather disconcerting ratio.
As for me personally, my take on the whole thing...let me put it this way: I see and hear a lot of times when *NSYNC have been completely honest about serious, engaging matters...whereas I can recall little to no events in which they have been dishonest with the same matters. Gee golly cheesecakes, and people wonder why I can keep so faithful in their words lol. I mean it's not rocket science
. Just in terms of logic, it'd be totally irrational for me to question their words just simply because I have no reason to. I have no reason to doubt, therefore I don't. Again, y'all, not rocket science;).
1) If believing in "P"(P = A proportion or idea)would require rejecting or doubting a vast number of current beliefs
AND
2) You have no independent reason to reject or doubt these beliefs
AND
3) You have no compelling reason to believe P.
THEN
It is more practical not to believe P.
