The Latin Grammy Awards

Aka proof that music transcends all cultures, all races, all languages.

I won't go into full detail on this one, as I didn't see the whole thing anyway.

But I must say...the attitude at this one was so dang positive and joyful, everyone was so happy and there just to have a great time and honor a great culture. In comparison with the VMAs I saw just a week ago where everyone just about hated everyone else...okay yeah those kinds of awards are kinda fun, but hey.

And yeah *NSYNC looked and felt a little out of place in this crowd, but they had their own contribution to give to the Latin American culture, and it's good that they were presented that chance(SOB...I promised myself I wouldn't cry...)

*NSYNC sang "Yo Te Voy A Amar"("This I Promise You" in Spanish)along with Son By Four(Latin pop group? Not sure. They're pretty good, though)who did their own song, then joined in with *NSYNC at the end. Now, just a personal note, I don't speak Spanish, only Chinese and a limited French, but you know what I realized, good music goes beyond language. No, I didn't understand a word they said, but you don't need words to explain something as beautiful and simple as true music. Did I mention that they did a great job:)? They did. It was beautiful, maybe because it was in another language, and I was able to truly feel the music, I don't know. There, *NSYNC wasn't some boyband trying to pull their shots, they were a magnificent music group who has something to share with the world. And share it they did. Oh...dangit, there I go being all sappy...

Christina Aguilera also performed, and for some reason she looks so much bigger than last week...visual illusions at work(Or maybe it was the gargantuan heels). Anyways, I'm glad that she has fully recovered...able to show the world her real voice in all its power. I'm sure everyone would just like to think of her a pop princess, but she's so much more. She performed a Spanish song that was unknown to me and a Spanish version of "Genie in a Bottle." Superb.

So yeah, I liked their performances, I even liked some of the other performances(Gloria Estefan, Santana, etc. Jennifer Lopez was there but I don't remember seeing her perform...too bad), but I won't go into them. It was a great night of celebration and pride. But yeah, since I knew less than one third of the artists actually there, I didn't tape the whole thing and watched even less of it. Sigh, I'm so naughty.

Um, sure dude.
