Seriously now. J and J are like, what? Both 6 feet? Carson gets next to them and it's like yeahuhhuhnolittleboysyoudon'tgetanycookie or something.
This show literally aired in the date of my Popodyssey concert so that was cooljay:). There's a lot of stuff to talk about in this obviously, but I don't wanna bore anyone(myself included)so I'll try and make this go quick, highlighting the biggest points.
Fandemonium: Lol at the male fans doing *NSYNC Karaoke:)!
Gone performance: What to say? It rocked. Look below at my thoughts on The View for some minor complaints though;).
And can I say BRAVO to Justin for the way he handled the very tactless Britney-booers with such tact. Let's get one thing straight: First of all I can say with certainty that I will never boo any one of the *NSYNCers. Secondly, do you even begin to comprehend how friggin' rude it is to boo someone's girlfriend to their face!? Hello!? Morons.
Moment #10: First MTV performance. Aww they were so cutenessed lol:).
Chris: "Those shirts are cool."
Joey farts. I just thought I should mention that.
Moment #9: Day on the Tour. Can I get a LMAO for the kind of productions *NSYNC was putting on while I wasn't looking(^_^)?
Chris: "These are cool! These outfits were cool!!" "Those spacesuits were ghetto."
In case you haven't noticed yet, I would like to take this moment to say that Chris rocks.
Moment #8: VMAs 1999. Ahhh, I remember this performance and I remember thinking it was too short but cool all the same. This was around the time I was just really starting to want to be a hardcore fan so I really paid attention to the fact that I really like to use the word "really"...no, I mean really paid attention to them at this point. And dayum, Joey was workin' it!
Moment #7: Snowed In. I saw this too, I luffed its funniness:D. Chris still rocks hardcore, in case anyone was wondering if he suddenly stopped rocking hardcore or something:).
Ooh, and I luffed "More Than A Feeling" a cappella...
Fan Cars: They were all cool, but I personally would have gone for the third one, the one with the marionette boxes on the front. And they Joey blow up doll...man that was freaky. It was like something I would think up of(O_O)!
Bust*N on *NSYNC: Eh...there really wasn't all that much bustin'...
Moment #6: ARMAGGEDN'SYNC:D:D:D!! Very funny crap. Need I say more? No? Okay, I won't then.
Moment #5: MTV Movie Awards IGBM. I didn't actually like this one too much...I mean I did, it was high energy and cool and all, but honestly it wasn't anything particularly spectac. And I remember JC's voice severely off-key in some parts of this, one of the only times I've ever seen it happen to him.
It was cool how the audience was singin' along though:).
*N-Amored With *NSYNC Hypermix: Alright you guys know I'm not too keen on remixes, I think they're usually just worsened versions of a song...and yeah this one was fairly grating. It started off pretty good, then it kinda went downhill in the next, oh, 30 minutes that it went on? And the whole JC repeating "TIPY" was a bit much.
Moment #4: MTV Icon.
Ah, That's the Way Love Goes. I love their rendition, loved it loved it loved it. Janet loved it too apparently;), she said that it was her favorite retake of her own songs. It was a cool video, we learned that they shot and recorded this in the same outing lol.
Side note: They really really really really ask the most moronic questions, don't they:)? I mean of course Joey is gonna answer that he would want to be at his High School Reunion, even if he didn't(which I kind of doubt)would he really tell 99999999999999999 million people that he would just blow it off? Eh nooooooooooo MTV please don't be dumb, mmmkay? Good.
Moment #3: *NSYNC Live.
I remember this! This was where they were all sitting around and joking that next year they were all gonna be bald and that they'll be making fun of Dave Holmes for having hair. And lo and behold, this year two *NSYNC took the buzz, pun intended;).
Moment #2: Superbowl 2001.
I think I voted for this one? Can't really remember, but I think this was one of my fav "*NSYNC" performances. Come here to see what I had to say about it.
Moment #1: 2000 VMAs.
Of course it had to be this. Of course. Not that I'm arguing or complaining of course;), since I also loved this performance to death(click here to see my 2000 VMAs page).
Unfortunately, I have to say that the camera angles during Pop were one of the worst that I've ever seen. It kept switching around, zooming in and out, flashing the audience(not literally), doing all this crazy stuff, especially during the dance part, and it was so annoying. It turned a good performance into an aaaahhhitwasokaaaayIguueeess performance.
Looks like someone kicked him in the balls again-->
*NSYNC opens my eyes to television programs that I never would have watched if not for the fact that they appear. The Today Show? Pshaw, wake me up when it's noon. Rosie? Maybe if my mom forced me to sit with her. Jay Leno? I'd pass for Letterman, honestly now. Regis? Run that by me again when the man is a little less annoying:p.
You know seriously though, it's been a while since we've seen something really funny and/or amuzing and/or entertaining and/or quality stuff like this. Well, Chris did most of it actually.
Chris rocks hardcore.
I can't tell you how much floor rolling I did when he and Justin mentioned "It's a phobia" at the same time.
With that aside, I must mentioned that I didn't really watch the nonSYNC parts of the show, but I did catch the bit where they talked about whether or not the guy pays for dinner, and I laughed and thought, "I have to rant about this on the site." And so I will:).
I've been on dates where I'm expected to be gentlemanly and polite and courteous and respectful towards feminine desires and all that, open doors, let them have their seats first, etc etc, which honestly I don't have any problems with at all("Yeah right..." Shh, be quiet, it's my moment!), but I'm just not allowed to pay. For anything. Period. Which frankly is one of the only things that I'm good at anyways! Using money! Wait...that wasn't what I meant to say.
My point is, I hate having to guess all the time at what's right for me to do and what's not, it's like just let me friggin' pay. If I'm gonna be held up to all those other expectations, then don't act so shocked like I'm acting out on some taboo me Tarzan you Jane behavior that puts all womankind on a lower pedestal or something, seriously. It's just popcorn!
Feminism confuses me. I think it confuses feminists, too.
Okay, now that I'm done with my personal trauma, let's move on:). I thought the performances were great. Gone was amazing. I like it performed live.
While people are still paying attention to me, what's with cutting out half that bridge in Gone whenever they perform it on TV? It's six/seven/eight seconds more of the song, it's one of the best parts of the song. And in the choruses, they only do the "Gone..." part twice, instead of four times in the CD. I mean it's not gonna kill ya to sing it a few more times, it's what five or six more seconds to the song!?...same with Pop, they always cut the dance short and I'm like, just do the two extra seconds of that dance for Pete's sake!!! It's not like the song isn't short enough as it is! Grrr!!!
Okay I'm done:D.
...Oh wait I'm not done. I liked that part where JC talked about O-Town:p.
Not much to say about the interview itself...it was pretty standard, but it was pretty d**n funny all the same, courtesy of Chris again:). Chris rocks hardcore. Did I mention that already? But the most memorable and hilarious line of the night has to go to JC, of which the memorability and hilarity could not possibly be described using the two dimensional and mundane potentials of computer text, but this stalwart webmaster will try anyway.
Didn't come out as funny as I planned. Um anyway.
I personally think that this was the best and most energetic televised performance of Pop they've done so far. Chris' mic was a notch too loud(side note: the same happened with Ricky Martin when he did NWTBL), but in general I thought it had this insane energy that the song needed and that I didn't think was delivered with Rosie or even the Road to Celebrity thing; at the rate that they flinging their limbs around I was totally expecting some to go flying across the stage!
Also, the band was live that night. Well, they were live the nights before too, but I think that counts for a lot, as opposed to just pre-taped instrumentals from the original song, you know? To me it feels like taped instrumentals are just rushed stand-ins for a real band and in no way a replacement for the feeling it creates. Coincidentally, I never thought that Bye Bye Bye had as much energy when it was performed without a band, either.
Did I mention just show long it has been since we've something like this, quality, fun entertainment, with the sole purpose of just having fun and being positive about it and just having fun and entertaining! You look at a lot of the "comedy" these days and the only thing they seem to be able to come up with is humor that's just degrading and has fun at other people's expense, and sometimes we're lucky if it's even funny. Case in point, VMAs 2000 and 2001. Thank you.
But this show...man, I wasn't kidding when I said that *NSYNC introduces me to some quality entertainment. Within a matter of thirty minutes Mr. Brady has restored my faith in the American comedian. I've watched a few more episodes of the WB Show after I saw this one and what can I say? It's just da** funny.
Oohh before I forget to mention: Joey is friends with Wayne, they even went to the same high school(I don't know if they were in the same four-year slot though, I don't think so). Wayne's the one Joey and his acting teacher did that improv book with, soooo...yeah:). That's possibly how he got to Justin anyway.
Favorite skit of the night: Wayne Brady as his grandma. "Wel let me see...seeing as haw I wasn't ahn the dahm ting AH DOHN'T KNOW!"
(^_^)
Second fav...again, what can I say? Lopsided Oreo rocks my world:)! How the F do they come up with stuff like this!? Thank you! Thank you for coming up with stuff like this!
ARRRRRRRRRRG they do that cutting out parts of the song thing again!!
GRRRRRRRRrrrrrr...
:)
They didn't perform any new songs, just Pop, Gone, and Bye Bye Bye. I kinda wished they would do another one off of Celebrity, but then again I didn't think Gone would be the second single...
I stayed up all night to catch this. And then when it aired they told me that *NSYNC wouldn't be on until an hour and a half later. Grrrrrrrrrrr again.
Anyway, I wanna comment a bit on the Bubble Boy controversy that they talked about in the show...the mother who was there...this whole thing was like, geez the filmmakers did not set out to do a movie just to make fun of your son! I feel for her but that's just...uncalled for, I guess. I think that she has every right to feel offended and to take action, but I also think that she's the one being inappropriate in this situation.
I didn't see the movie, even though I really wanted to because I worship Jake Gyllenhaal(sp?) ever since October Sky.
Update: I've seen this movie now lol, and it's really funny, but I'm glad I waited to get the DVD w/ the commentaries instead of seeing it in the theaters;).
On another note, the performances were coooool. And it showed me something that I probably should have figured out a long time ago: When *NSYNC performs, JC and Justin's mics are almost twice as loud as the other guys'. They gave it away today, when right before the first performance the guy asked Joey a question and his mic was way down, and then they turned it back up again. And THEN when they started to perform Joey's mic was too loud! Lol I find that sooo funny, if only kinda obvious in retrospect.
OMFG did you see? Joey was sittin' right next to Goddess Gellar!
Okay, it's not really that cool, but anyway.
*NSYNC won three awards: Choice Single Pop, Choice Album Celebrity, and Choice Concert. Oh, and that bald guy won for choice hottie. He still didn't to kiss her though, 'cause she didn't win.
Oh wait, nevermind, he did.
UUUUUUUUUhhhhh anyway, I'm glad they won for those, of course I voted for them:p. And I'm glad too that Goddess Gellar got an extraordinary achievement award, of everyone in the audience that night no one deserved it more than she did.
On to other stuff...Moulin HUUUUUGE!! I actually thought it was funny. I hear people getting on about how it dissed on fat people, which okay, I hear ya, but if the people doing it had no problems, why should anyone else? JC sure got into it.
I have to say, I like Nick's voice more than usual these days. And now as Aaron grows up a bit and because less annoying pipsqueak childwhore I'm not quite as likely to writhe in pain whenever I see his face as I was before.
But come on now. Did you honestly that I was gonna give props for this performance:)?
Okay okay...it wasn't too bad...I guess...it's just that...well...first of all the song obviously isn't Grammy material, and Aaron's voice is still just within that nails-on-chalkboard stage that people like Justin and yeah even Nick have learned to hide really well(No offense to Justin or Nick of course, but let's be realistic here! Nails on chalkboard were nails on chalkboard, no way around it;))
Reserving all further judgment on Aaron and his lack of appeal towards me ^_^.
Can I just say something else though? Why is everyone saying that Ben Affleck only won because he showed up or...I dunno, that it was just a courtesy award or somecrap? I mean...Ben rocked hardcore in Pearl Harbor. I voted for him. I think he deserved the award, I think it was well-earned. So...yeah.
Carrot Top was...lol. The Britney-starting-car imitation was classic! And you know that's probably how she does it in real life too. Yea-yea-yea-yea-yea-yeah...
But the whole Mariah Carey thing...okay, I don't especially care about Mariah, especially lately, but that was just dumb. Dumb and immature to be doing especially at an awards show aimed for teenagers. What else can I say? I appreciate good humor, I like a good laugh. This was neither funny nor appreciated.
Thank ya.
