*NSYNC Concert in Atlantis

Oh look at that. Isn't that cool? That's cool. Look at that.

I ran out of words of which to describe things that *NSYNC do a loooong time ago. What can I say about their vocal and performance skills tonight that I haven't already said, millions of times before? It was flawless. Just...flawless. I do have to say that I thought that they were a bit lacking in energy concerning the dancing, especially at first, but...flawless is the only word I can use to describe this. What can I say about that concert that hasn't already been beaten to death yet?? I love Joey, I love Chris, I love them all, and I want a dolphin.

For fear of repeating myself just a bit too often, I love their harmonies. Throughout these songs...GF, the Medley, the ballads...I mean...the harmonies are once again strong, beautiful, and awe-inspiring. And I love how they did Girlfriend!! It looked and sounded great. As did the rest of the songs. And it was SO cool how they were singing in the glass aquarium and just...singing for the joy of it. That was uplifting to me.

And Tim is cool too, though I have to admit I didn't really pay that much attention during his song, but he did a great job too.

And finally: JOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!

Pant pant pant pant.

And you know...I really can't figure out which special I like more...this one or the Holiday Special last year. I honestly can't decide...I am going to have to take the easy way out and say that I like them both as much!

Okay, now that I have recovered enough from random exclamations of weirdness, here is an actual runthrough of the show.

*It's Gonna Be Me: Played at 8:00, just before the Rugrats movie. You know...I had a feeling they were gonna do that breakdown. Throughout the whole song you just get that feeling that they're gonna do it...but when they do, it's still just riveting and exciting. I mean hello, it's The Breakdown! Da nastay freakay getdown! Goodness all around.
To add again of course, compared to the 2000 VMAs, it was lacking in energy a bit. Just a bit. Not a lot. Just a bit, enough that it's noticeable. Still, it was coolness. And it was great to see how the audience got into it, as usual. And dayum those dancers have big...smiles:).

*Pop: Basic standard performance of Pop. It was great of course, and energetic, and they sounded awesome and flawless(it's my new favorite word;)).

*Tearin' Up My Heart/I Want You Back: Again, pretty much basic...but I have to admit it's fun to watch them perform these old-as-dirt songs for millions of viewers again;).

*Up Against the Wall: HELLO!!!!!!
As many of you know, UATW is more or less tied for my fav song on Celebrity with The Game is Over. Sometimes it's first place, sometimes it's not. So imagine my joy when I saw those familiar velcro walls up on that TV set. I've seen this on the PopOdyssey tour of course, but it was just fun to revisit it. It's a fun number, full of funness. And the dancers with their...big smiles. Can't forget them, no siree;). And I luff it when Lance does a dance move wrong lol;)!

*Tim McGraw Medley-Stand By Me, Fire and Rain, and Lean on Me: *clears throat and takes a deep breath*
JOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!!! *glass cracks*

No but seriously, I loved every second of this, not only when The Joseph sang that part in Stand By Me(Of which he sounded beautiful, of course). I love how they bring out these classic uplifting songs that everyone knows, as they say to just be uplifting and cheerful for everyone. That's one of those timeless things that I have always liked about *NSYNC and still do; Beyond just the singing and the dancing, these priceless qualities that we could trust about them. Just...their spirit of positivity and uplift. And that one priceless shot of the mother holding her son and singing along with them was very much an epitomy of these sentiments. You can't help but feel in your heart, just a little, that *NSYNC is part of what a lot of us need right now.
Back to the performance...Chris' voice never ceases to astound me. I mean...I love each one of them and I love all their voices, and I think I'm a bit uncharacteristic of fans in that I would honestly never choose one of their voices over another, but Chris' voice...there's something about it. It's weird...it's not like a prototype, "natural" voice at all...there's some sort of otherworldly quality to it that surprises you everytime you hear it. It's...special.
And Lance. Lance Lance Lance Lance Lance. Ohhh, Jimmy...people love you. Do you realize that? I love you. It's unsane but...he's incredibly gifted and doesn't get to show it too often.
Okay, I'm not going to start on that whole "Who gets the solos in *NSYNC and why it isn't fair whiny whiny whine" speech...I think that whole state of mind is a bit redundant and a bit silly, no serious offense to anyone who shares it of course. I know how *NSYNC works in their vocal repertoire; I know I sound like I broken record from having said this so many times before, but I don't think I exaggerate when I say that having had first-hand experience in a small men's vocal group I understand the proccess very well. I have no problems with it at all, and as long as they think it's all good, it's all good to me.
BUT, I will say that if *NSYNC decides at any given point in the future, perhaps in their next album, that some solo sections would befit Lance's or even Chris or Joey's voices, well...I'll just say that I wouldn't exactly be displeased. Not at all.
On another note, although he really really kinda scares me, Tim did great too and his humble yet confident attitude and demeanor was a cool thing to watch.

*Girlfriend: You know...I think I actually like Girlfriend performed live more than I like Up Against the Wall. It's weird. I clearly and indisputably like UATW as a song far more than GF, almost from the second that I heard the two of them. I'm very glad that they're releasing GF as the next single and I trust their decision to do that, but I do like UATW more, just like in general.
Girlfriend just has this cool feel to it live...it's like mellow but intense, very intimate and focused...what can I say? It's R&B. The whole choreography just fits with the beat, very laid-back but also sharp and direct.
And of course, you can hear their vocals a lot more clearly and beautifully. Now, I'm not one of those people who believe that *NSYNC should sacrifice gaudy sets and flashy moves for sake of a godly vocal performance. I mean it is a performance...at the end of the day the lights and scenery and creativity which flows onto the performances are just as much *NSYNC style and work as their naked voices. Heh heh. Heh heh heh. I said "naked." Uh huhuhuhuh. Um...so anyway, I do like all the sets and speed dancing and creativity that flowed into making "Up Against the Wall"...well, "Up Against the Wall." Wouldn't trade it for anything.
But sometimes you know...it's just nice to have a change of pace, of flow. Sometimes it's just nice to be able to hear the voices, how tight they are and how beautifully it flows, mix in with some visual, smooth dancing. It just works so nicely, and is so appealing to me. And they did a great job. I have a feeling I'm going to be liking this song a lot more in the upcoming months.

*This I Promise You/Aquarium Scene: They're right, you know. The bathroom is the best place to sing;). And dang it I can say this a million times, but they just sound...so incredible. Like I said, it was just so incredibly serene and awe-inspiring to listen to them just singing this for the joy of hearing themselves sing(did you see how laid back Lance was?), just for the joy of singing. It's just a cool thing to watch about the men.
And they did the now-familiar Grammy rendition! Tee hee. Love this version.

*Gone: Say what you want about Justin; You can't deny he's freakin' passionate, that he gives it his all. There are some parts of this performance where I'm not exactly completely fine and dandy with what Justin does with it, but you know what? I can't deny that he gives the song life, makes it so emotional and astonishing to listen to, a fresh experience every time, with the guys in the now-familiar staircase formation. This is real-life art, baby. And I like that. One of my fav songs of the night.

"WE LOVE YOU CHRIS!" "Thank you!" Lol.

*Tim McGraw Song: Okay I admit it, I confess...lol, I don't even know what he sang. I recorded this, but really I listened to him more half-heartedly than not. And to this day I haven't really listened to this.
It's not that I don't like Tim, it's just that listening to him was never the main thing for me...maybe if I were a huge country fan or a Tim fan I'd be all ecstatic and stuff, but as is it I just listened and nodded my head. Yes Tim, you go son...now gimme back mah *NSYNC.

*Bye. Bye. Bye.: Bye.
Bye.
Bye.
I've realized that it's close to practically impossible for me to ever tire of this song. It just is. But as usual, the familiar tunes that signify this piece also signify the last piece of the night, which is always a bit of a subconscious downer lol.
Ooh ooh, I gotta mention something. Okay, you guys know that Lance grabs his crotch during Bye Bye Bye, right?? And that he did it on both the MSG HBO concert and this one. Well I noticed that the angle between the two shots are almost completely identical, both shot from his left, our right. Almost identical. Teehee.
...and yes, this is what BW does in his spare time, taking notes whenever another man grabs his crotch. I'm very pathetic, yes I am.

And finally, a quick runthrough of my fav parts of the show:

*Joey's solo. Oh yeah...those other two guys too(^_^).

*Girlfriend.

*THE DOLPHIN. AND JOEY.

*The aquarium. Chill. Bumps.

*The Gone.

*THE WHOLE FRIGGIN' THING!!!!!!!

*Pant pant pant pant.

Yup, y'all gotta love this *NSYNC specials;).

"Bye. Bye. Bye."
