American Music Awards 2001

No much interesting happened, especially when you got Faith Hill grabbing a dozen or so awards lol. Quick review on the show:

*Britney and LL did a pretty good job hosting, I'd say. I thought the take she did on her own dress style was hilarious:). But note to LL: "Make some noise!" stops being effective after the first thirty times or so that you use it.

*NSYNC only won one award, the one voted on by the fans. Do I think they deserved the other two that they were nominated for? Yes, of course, and I say that not out of disrespect for other artists, I say that out of absolute respect for *NSYNC. I think the Backstreet Boys and Creed work very hard and deserves muchos props, but let's face it: Year 2000=*NSYNC. Period. I am disappointed and confused as to the manner of which these final results were tallied and judged, to say the least. Yes, bitter bitter bitter:), you guys caught me on a bitter day...

*O-Town presented the award for the BSB, and I was seriously anticipating some kind of tension(Even if it was *NSYNC I would have been apprehensive), but obviously there was none, heh, proving once again that that I am the violence junkie that none of the Boys could be.

*Faith Hill is...pop!? It makes sense if you think about it(a lot), but it still came as a surprise to me...

Quick review on the performances:

*I want Jennifer Lopez. Now.

*Britney did lipsynch. It's bloody sad, because other than that her performance was just amazing. As much as I love her I really can't have respect for her on this. Yes, it was just a backup tape and she did try to use her voice, but come on. As a performer, as an entertainer, competing in this business, you can't make excuses like that, and I was embarrassed for her.
On the other hand, I loved her sexy rap, that I'm pretty sure she did live. For some reason it reminded me of a certain curlyman's beat-boxing. Two words: Private sessions:). OW! Hey, stop throwing stuff at me, dangit...!
Speaking of the Crunkmaster...Justin looked pretty happy about her performance, standing ovations and all. I wonder what are *NSYNC's views on her use of backup tapes? It must not bother them enough to make a big deal out of it.

*I have to constantly remind myself that Ricky Martin can sing. His bon bons obscure that fact from me often, unfortunately.

*Jessica Simpson sounded very impressive, but that song's pretty old, isn't it? Don't get me wrong, I like it, but doesn't she have a new album coming out soon? Why not grace us with a few of those songs?

*I don't think Pink went out to diss on Britney/Christina/Jessica, I think she was referring to the number of girls who want to be like B/C/J just for the image, which we know does happen. This was the first time I saw a live Pink performance and what can I say? I love her but when it wasn't great, it wasn't great. Props for actually singing live, though. The mini-Pink scared me. Why was she? Was there a reason? Was she just saying that it's not okay for people to model after the image of dumb blondes but it's okay to model after the image of hardcore pink-haired ones? Confusing...

So my total thoughts on the night...eh, this is one taping I plan to tape over:). Okay, it had its moments, but really nothing major and I'd just wind up disappointed watching it again, so there:)
