Chudi has a long and dedicated history of public and community services. He studied Political Science and Public Policy at Western Connecticut State University and went on to graduate studies at California University of Pennsylvania where he studied and obtained Master of Arts Degree in Social Sciences with emphasis on Public Policy Development and Evaluation. He relocated to Canada from Danbury Connecticut, USA in 1989. He became active in the volunteer community shortly after his relocation to Durham in 1990. He joined the Durham Community Legal Clinic Board of Director and served two terms on the Board as Director and Treasurer. He served briefly on the Durham District School Board Ethno-cultural Advisory Council and joined the Durham Region Community Development Council shortly after he left Durham District School Board Ethno-cultural Advisory Council. He was with the now Durham Region Community Development Council through their transition from Ajax-Pickering Community Development. He also served as the Treasurer during his second term with the agency. He received community services award from the agency. Chudi became one of the founding and charter member of the Whitby Millennium Lions Club and the founding Newsletter Editor. The motto: �we Serve� was the driving rationale for his interest in the Lions� Club. He received two consecutive president awards for his contribution to the club and for his efforts in developing the clubs� newsletter. Chudi joined the Durham Local Training Board in 2003 as the Equity Director responsible for Racial Minority initiatives. He and the board have the responsibility of working �collaboratively with other community partners in promoting and facilitating the development of skilled, relevant, inclusive and adaptive labour force�. Chudi has worked with the Region of Durham for approximately 16 years. He currently works concurrently as an Employment Consultant and as Co-facilitator of Partner Assault Response Program. He also privately works as a Consultant on Human Rights related initiatives. He is a Co-founder of Obosi Community Development Association responsible for raising funds to revitalize, rebuild and provide head-start to elementary schools in West Africa. Chudi has earned the respect of his colleagues and family. Chudi is married to Oby and they have lived with their children for over 17years. Chudi�s motto: is �lead, follow or get out of the way�. Chudi has chosen to lead after following and providing the �behind the scene� advice over the years. As the saying goes, �To him much is given, much is expected�. Chudi feels a strong sense of obligation to give back to the community that has given much more than he could ever give back. He currently works with the stakeholders in community to establish Information and Resource centre for new Immigrants to Durham Region.. |
