| As the saying goes, "You can choose your friends... Your family of origin, however, was the choice of fate: the outcome of your first shot at the lottery of life. You may see your family as a gift of the gods, or as a curse from the thirteenth fairy, but one thing is sure, whether you were born into it or adopted, you got them for life!- Unquote Thank you for your interest. I joined the Regional Municipality of Durham in 1990, initially as a Caseworker. Between 1990 and current, I have held several positions with the municipality; I have been an Assistant Supervisor (Caseworker 111), CIMS Coordinator, Partner Assault Response Co-facilitator, and Employment Consultant. I have also been involved in Community development and related initiatives. I sat on the board of directors of Durham Community Legal Clinic, Racial Minority Focus Group, Durham Emergency Measure Committee, Durham District School Ethno cultural Advisory Council, Community Development Council, and I am a Director representing Racial Minority in the area of equity and access to opportunity at Durham Region Local Training Board. I am also a charter member and the Newsletter Editor of the Whitby Millennium Lions Club. I have a strong sense of social responsibility that encompasses an acute sense of fiscal policy. If elected, I will serve at the pleasure of the people. I believe that local representatives must be accessible to their constituents. I am motivated by the desire to: *Bring accessibility, integrity, honesty and passion that will translate into results. *Bring simple courtesy and respect for colleagues that translates into teamwork. *Bring over 16 years of experience in regional government, and community development to keep the Council balanced. *Work with the Council to ensure that the town of Whitby continues to attract and retain quality staff, industries and aspiring residents. I will work in concert with the Council to continue to not only respect but recognize the "top-of the line" town employees. I like to see the elected official provide clearer explanation to the tax payers on how, where, and when their tax dollars are allocated and ensure that the allocation(s) meet the current and future needs of the community. Finally, I like to see more guided review of current and future municipal planning. Whitby is growing and continues to grow. As such I would like to see full fledged hospital and needed hospital personnel lobbied into the community. Vote Chudi on November 13th and I will work tirelessly to ensure that these issues are dealt with. Thanks for your time! |
