Oh wow, a Christmas present for me? In May? What a wonderful surprise. What cute little upside down cracked out nutcracker guys on the wrapping paper. They're calling me...they want me to open the box...but there are still 7 more months until Christmas! Oh god dammit, I'll open the present early. |

It's a Volcano vaporizor, by Storz and Bickel. They have these things in the cannabis clubs, but now I have one of my very own. And it kicks ass, too! |

This is the main piece of the Volcano. It's easy to see where they got the name from; the heat comes out of the top, like a volcano erupting. The red switch down there turns the heat on and off (which is adjusted using the knob). The green switch turns the air flow on and off. And finally the yellow light indicates that it is still warming up. Notice the mushroom sticker on the side? My friend Amber put that on there; it's a nice touch. |

And here are the pieces to the Volcano. From left to right, they are the filling chamber, mouthpiece, and bag. What's cool about the Volcano is that it is extremely stoner friendly. The bag piece can click into and out of the filling chamber and mouthpiece pieces. Very very easy. |

Before starting, the Volcano should be plugged in, set to the right heat, and the heat should be turned on so it can start warming up. Then you need to crush the weed. The heat only reaches the surface of the weed, so the more broken up it is, the better it will work. A crusher works best for this. They usually cost anywhere between 15 (for a crappy kind) and 50 dollars (for a kickass kind). |

The crushed weed should then be put into the filling chamber. The filling chamber is a pretty simple device to understand, but it looks complicated until someone explains it to you. The chamber is just a hollow plastic piece with metal surrounding the inside, meant to withstand high temperatures. There is a screen on the bottom, which is where the weed is put on top of. |

Then the second screen is inserted, which braces the weed between both screens, so that heat can pass through it without actually allowing any of it to move around. There is a piece that I got also that replaces one of the screens (I forgot which; I haven't had a chance to use it yet). It's a "concentrate screen", or at least that's what the OCBC guy said. It's like a really thick mesh screen that absorbs whatever oil concentrate you drop on it. Then the heat that passes through it does its thing. Now...are we ready to smoke? Erm...I mean are we ready to vaporize? Woo hoo! |
