How did all this happen to Starbuck? Well as a baby, Starbuck was found in an abandon gypsy covered wagonalone on the main trail 20 miles south of the town. The only personal belongings in the wagon with him was a book. MOBY DICK on 20 different pages the name Starbuck had an unusual symbol next to it. It was believed to be put there by his mother. In the hopes that someone would find her son and know what the baby's name was. But in truth it was a slow acting spell to protect the baby from harm and give him eternal life as an Awarewolf.
The town adopted the baby and like I said, the spell, a slow acting one. So by the time the spell took full affect, Starbuck's aging stopped when he turned 20 years old. (The same number of times the name Starbuck had the symbol next to it in the book.) The town became quite fond of him and made him their Marshal.
Now as an Awarewolf Starbuck can change into an Awarewolf at will. He can even control how drastic the change will be. He is aware of his power and he is aware of what he is as a wolf. Now you know why he is known as an Awarewolf. But just like normal Werewolfs, he has no say so during a full moon. As an Awarewolf he is very much in control. He may be an Awarewolf but he's still Starbuck the man. Now you know what an Awarewolf is. But be aware of the Awarewolf's bight. For you will be forever damned into a Wonderingwolf at the next full moon.

It's a little known fact that Starbuck has magic powers. Starbuck has yet to discover that he is a creation of magic. Therefore his is one with magic. In our world of Western Nightmares, people who use magic (Magic Users) are looked at as drug users. Here in this world magic comes at a heigh price. It eats away at your soul and over time you can become a very dangerous person. This will never happen to Starbuck because he is one with magic. He is born of magic. But many will not understand this.
