After taking Jack's inheritance and home, the town's Mayor sold the boy to Professor P.J. Rutherford's Side Show of Freaks and Human Oddities. Jack was given a new name. He was called The Poison Kid. The act was to see if anyone could come up with a concoction of poisons and chemicals to kill him. Of course, there was betting involved and if anyone challenged him or call him a faker, he would let them drink the poison they gave him to drink. It was said that when that person was dead, the boy would claim the body as his prize. On the walls in his wagon were the skulls and cross bones of the ones who challenged him and lost, or so the legend goes. At the age of 16, the side show teamed up with the traveling circus. It was there in the circus the Kid meet Patrick McClellan Angel, the only person who was not scared of Jack and the first person to show him any kindness since his mother. Patrick and jack became the best of friends. Alice, who has a trained Poodle act. (Jack allows, though they were Gay looking dogs anyway.) was very jealous of the two of them. She wanted Patric for herself. So she used their friendship to get what she wanted. After she was seen kissing Jack, she was found dead the next day. Till this day Jack believes it was his kiss that killed her.

One year later the circus was burnt down by a man said to be Patrick's father. Jack lost his best friend and his world that night.

Once more on his own, Jack became a gun for hire, or in his case Poison for hire. On his 18th birthday he was shot in the back by a Marshal named Gethro Banan Bodin. Gethro took Jack to the town doctor's office where he was left to die. Just before the young man took is last breath, he was feed on by a vampire named Jessie James: this had an unexpected result. Instead of Jack's body becoming a vampire, his spirit became an Energy Vampire. From that moment on, Jack became known as KID POISON.

To be part of the physical world, the Kid has to possess the body of a living man. That man turned out to be his best friend. Now, despite what you think you know about vampires. The Kid don't sleep in a coffin and he don't turn into a bat. If that's what you think, you have been reading way too much Ann Rice. But does have a horse with bat like wings. Oh yes, She can fly and her name is Poisonous. She lives in the world of shadows and comes to the Kid when she is called.
The Kid is very powerful but during the daylight his powers become weaker. Now the Kid is an Energy Vampire and he has many powers. That's powers, NOT magic. He can suck the life out of anyone by touching them or not. He can turn into the form of a fog to move about. He has the ability to control changes in the weather. The one thing he is most well known for, is having Red Lighting fill the sky when he is pissed off. Even as an Energy Vampire, the Kid's body needs poison to live just as much as he needs the Energy. Yes the Kid can drink blood but Energy is what he needs. The Kid also has many of the same gifts that come with being a vampire. Eternal life, Healing, fast speed and so on. . . .
