CJ:  My Fiddle Page
My grandson caught me  before I was going to a reenactment.  He thought that my tie needed some      adjustment.  He lives with his mom and dad in San Antonio, Texas (across town from us).  My  other grandson lives in Carl Junction, Mo.

My interest in fiddles has only been a reality since October 03.  I purchased my    First fiddle from ebay.  I was so excited when I won the bid.  I'm getting a fiddle for $75.00 plus shiping.  The anticipation grew greater, and greater until I had it in my hands. I had purchased a book already and now I was ready to go.  The first problem I had was the bow wouldnt make any sound. Finally from searching on the internet  for a long time I found a place that told me how to season the bow.  Now it made noise.  I then found a local violin shop.  It was my  idea to take it in for a checkup before the send the-instrument-back-warranty was over.  Well, it was going to cost a couple hundred dollars to fix all that was  wrong.  The ebony fingerboard was whitewood painted black.  The fingerboard was very uneven, The pegs were slipping from poor craftmanship, and of  course the strings needed replacement.  I decided it was better to send it back and save up some more money to get a starter outfit from this place.

It was about this time that I found the
Fiddle Forum.  They were recommending   Steve from Giaana Violins.  I emailed Steve, however, I became impatient before he could return my email (something like he receives 200 emails a week).  I purchased the starter outfit from the violin shop.

All was going well but I wanted a little better fiddle (one from someone who deals with fiddles and fiddle set-up) so I contacted Steve again and we hashed  out the details.  While saving up the money that I needed to purchase the recommended
fiddle outfit (only half) my dear beloved wife handed me the rest  of the money that I needed.  Now I have that one in my hands and I love it.
