| From the President, Friends and Colleagues of the College Republicans: You may recall my vision that I had: I would like to share with you a vision that I have. But before I do that, I would like to reflect on the words of one of the greatest presidents in American history: There are worse things off in life to be called than a courageous dreamer The challenge of statesmanship is to have the vision to dream of a better, safer world and the courage, persistence, and patience to turn that dream into a reality --Ronald Wilson Reagan The central mission of the College Republicans is get Republicans elected to office. Outside of that, we advance our Republican principles on campus and in the community. We come from a proud history of keeping the union together, ending slavery, fighting for Civil Rights legislation, beating back communist regimes, fighting terrorism and holding the Light of Liberty for the world. We believe in the power of the individual to pursue his or her own dream. The power we have in freedom is unparalleled anywhere on Earth and the Republican Party is the champion of protecting that freedom. Thank God we have such great leadership in our party today and President Bushs vision has moved America into her rightful place in the 21st Century. Our mission statement is clear and our resolve solid. But, what does it mean to be the Best Party on Campus? Being the best party means having a sense of community and coming together. Being the best party means being active and working hard. But all work and no play makes for a boring day. We need to celebrate our successes as a team. After all, we work hard as a team to advance our principles and get Republicans elected to all levels of government. So, why not take time out from time to time to remember those successes and celebrate together? Being the best party means having a large and diverse membership where we are better able to pool our resources, both physical and mental. Being the best party on campus means helping to prepare our members for leadership roles in the future and setting each other up for success. It means building life-long friendships. It also means having a sense of team-ship, a sense of pride, and a feeling that we all belong to something a little higher than ourselves. The College Republicans is that party. We are the best of the best and together there is NOTHING that we cannot make happen. I would like to thank each of you for chosing me to be your president. Together we some good times. We can be proud of our accomplishments: --Steven Helmeriks no longer teaches at CSU --The Palestinian Student Association was cut its funding from ASCSU --We registered more new votes than any other chapter in America --We logged in more hours with the 96 Hour Team, than any other chapter in CO --We debated the liberal students and professors at every chance --We stood tall with our chins in the air while being attacked by "tolerant" liberals --We campaigned hard and at the end we can truthfully say: We Fought the Good Fight |
