Background
Born 5 August 1970 to Wendell C and Sandra L Fogland in Loveland, CO Graduated Thompson Valley High School in 1988 Joined Colorado Army National Guard as a 13E-Canon Fire Direction Specialist in 1987 After getting into a fair share of trouble, I dropped out of college and moved to Arizona. This was during the Recession of the early ninety's. Having great difficulty at making a living, I did something quite radical by moving to Mexico, where I was a bartender, a rapper, and a clerk for a real estate firm for one year. The move forced a discharge from the military. I returned to AZ only to find fast food work. Having enjoyed music I learned how to mix records and became a DJ. This lifestyle led to drug addiction and eventual loss of everything after moving to Eastern Washington State. I moved home to CO, quit drugs and began working as a server. I eventually worked my way into management. However, I was relocated to a restaurant in Boulder. I was commuting everyday and I had a great deal of stress due to the restaurant's lack of performance and corporate demands. May 2001, my friend and roomate committed suicide. I had to deal that, doubled bills and his family. July 2001, my mom dropped dead unexpectedly. August 5, 2001, I caught my girlfriend with another man. (my birthday)

Most people in my situation would have falled forever---but I fought
On August 25, 2001, I only had one thing on my mind: go to a club, DJ and express yourself artistically to get the weight of the world off your back. However, my friend at the club refused me. This was the last straw for me. I had a crappy job, a crappy life, no money, and no trust in anything or anyone. I cracked. I drank and drank and drank. I do not remember the subsequent events of leading the police in car chase, however, I do know that I woke up in hospital, cuffed to the bed seeing a rather annoyed deputy sheriff. I was charged and convicted of a felony Vehicular Eluding and sentenced to 5 years of Community Corrections, a direct sentence to the "halfway house." Most people would have never recoverd, but I fought. In a loney cell, I begged for God to come into my life. I told him that I didn't know what He had in store for me, but I placed my trust in Him and promised that I would listen. On September 11, 2001, I heard an inmate cry out, "We're under attack; we're under attack." Not believing him but wishing to find the cause of his statement, I went to the TV area and the WTC was pluming smoke with fury. That morning I watched the second plane hit live. It changed my life forever. An epiphany. I knew that I had to get involved in government in some way to insure our public's safety. I knew that I had to follow God devotely and find a pathway to a worthy goal. I overcame all odds in a not so successful system. I put God first in my life and became extremely active in the Republican Party. I enrolled in FRCC, then CSU and will graduate in December with a BA in Political Science. I currently manage, bartend and serve at the Black Eyed Pea in Fort Collins.
