"Twilight's Brown"

By Orion McClure

Nobody
captivates the eyes
like Mr. Brown.,
admiring the stars,
the shadows,
the moon,
the rippling lake:

admiring back.

Whistling Boreas lisped to Whispering Willow,

"Brown eyes
Brown pants
Brown shoes..."

The owls took the words
from the North Wind's lips.

"Who.
Who.
Who.
Who?"

The owls are brown too,
Adding magic to magic.

And distant town squares echoed the din of midnight
from chasmic belltowers' bowels.

And the nighttime noise spent itself
in an apex of sorts...

"TAKE OFF YOUR PANTS, SILLY MAN! TAKE OF YOUR PANTS AND DANCE!!!"
