His batteries were wearing down. Though his natural-looking head was shining as fulgently as ever, his gears were moving a little slower today. "Uhhh, I BELIEVE it's Uzbekistan." he stuttered out. These Children are becoming too smart for me he computed. I must recharge before they discover my secret.
Little did he know that three adept Juniors had already discovered his and the school board's nasty little secret. He was a cyborg; robot through-and-through. If only the students could know the cybernetic English teacher thought to himself. They could accept me for my true genius and the wonderful robot within. The facts were glaringly obvious in his Pentium-powered brain. Why didn't they wonder why he strove to grasp the slang of the day? Why didn't the notice that his knowledge of vocabulary and geography far surpassed that of even the brightest of humans? The pieces all fit together if one would just tried to fit them together.
The school board had signed over a large contract with Intel to integrate cyborgs into the school system without anyone noticing. The students had already discovered the Mendenhall prototype student bot but had yet to discover the Mr. King model. If this model succeeded, the students could be trained and sold for cheap labor at great profit for the school board. Due to economic twists, however, if Mr. King failed the school board would be liquidated and a great social upheaval would ensue creating great profits for Intel. It was the primary goal of the school board to ensure that this scenario wouldn't happen.
The chairman of the school board, often referred to as Mr. Boogers used his mind-reading device, implanted in every channel-one TV to monitor the thoughts of students. While snooping in the thoughts of teenage girls, trying to find the dirtiest, innermost thoughts, he was startled to discover that three students had already found the truth. I must take action before it is too late! Mr. Boogers thought to himself.
Unfortunately for Mr. Boogers, it was too late. For the three adept students had thrown a proverbial monkey wrench into his clockwork. While fixing a TV for a distraught teacher they discovered the mind-reading device. Within ten minutes, they had unlocked the secrets of its use, discovered who in the Junior class stuffed their bra and the secret plans of the school board and Intel.
By 4:45 PM a student task force laid siege to the school board and stopped their local psychic espionage ring before they went farther.
Meanwhile, the cyborg's battery ran down. . . . .
