| Prophetic Dream, Autumn of 2005 (chuck darling) In Autumn of 2005, i was invited to Temple Beth Zion in Buffalo, N.Y. to the morning Shabbat service. The night before the service (i.e., during Shabbat) i had 2 vivid dreams. a group of young teenage girls were carrying a large scaffold ladder like contraption over their heads, and i passed them on the sidewalk. as i recall, the setting was in my original buffalo neighborhood, at rustic and doat streets, (around the corner from Beth Jacob cemetary, at the end of my street). One of the girls seemed a bit puzzled, as she did not know what direction to go. The second dream was set in my house on stillwell in kenmore, N.Y. a 14 year old girl, whom i never saw before, and of my deceased mother-in-law, Ruth Hatzel, were sitting at table, and we shared a wafer like bread. The girl dipped the bread in honey, and gave it to me. i waited for her to take some bread too, but she would not eat it, until i did. then all three of us were very happy. When I arrived at Temple Beth Zion, in the morning, i was surprised to find that there was to be a special service. I asked a young man named Gabriel what it was, and he said that his sister, Leah, was to have her batmitzvah that morning. I spoke to Gabriel for about 15 minutes before the service, and explained the significance of his name in both the christian and muslim faiths, besides the explanation of Daniel's dreams, in the hebrew book of Daniel. At the service, a group of young ladies canted (sang) the scripture readings, as they stood on Beth Zion's beautiful altar. behind them, was a large ladder-like stained glass window. (Jacob's Ladder) . The young ladies held two torah scrolls over their heads, and processed around the temple, allowing us to touch the torah scrolls. (i touched one of them) After the service, Leah was radiantly happy, and, of course, i had to explain my dream to her. We were both very happy. The next day, a group of girls were serving breakfast at buffalo city mission, i asked them what group they were with, and they told me that they were part of a confirmation class. of course, i had to explain the dream to them as well. confirmation and batmitzvah perform the same function. it's when the individual makes the choice for themselves as a young adult, to express their faith in a personal and public manner. They too were happy with the "coincidence". (There are no "coincidences".) Have any dreams lately? do they come true? Chuck Darling (2005) |
