Harmonious Flight

Way over my head a rustle of wings
A wisp of wind on my face sings
They gaze down to me from above
Sharing with all their glorious love
To wonderful to put into words
Examples to all watching the birds
I see so much grace I truly delight
And contemplate harmonious flight
While they flitter, flutter and play
I can only quiver, quaver and pray
Exquisitely grand inside and out
I want to rise up, glory and shout
They dance in my life and sing
Fly with my soul on their wing
Into my life they truly were thrust
But flying with them I totally trust
If you can't see them up in the skies
Open your heart not just your eyes
Then be revealed so you can see
Angels God sent to watch over me

Car Sledding

Today I went sledding on Rt. 16 with my car,
Before 2 trees I did hit I slid pretty far!
My body not broke, but was knocked all ajar,
That car now however never again to see tar!

No fun any more now I'm in a lot of pain,
My body is sore from my toes to my brain!
No broken bones, but my muscles did strain,
Now lying here in bed is driving me insane!

I drove around like I was going to a fire,
To get where I wanted was my only desire!
So for now as a driver I may need to retire,
If I do want to drive a new car I'll require!

Not proud of my fun and I don't feel sublime,
I've kepy my guardian angel working overtime!
What I've done to that car is almost a crime,
With the help of a tree I can stop on a dime!

1993 Ford Crown Victoria in a snowstorm.

A local radio station took my reading of it,
put music behind it and played it on the air.
A Small Sampling of My Poetry
A Stately Oak

A stately oak tree lofty and staunch,
Stood with it's head toward God;
It once was a seed, just a tiny acorn,
Placed in the heart of some sod.

Thru shower or storm upward will grow,
An out-branching, sheltering tree,
A reminder to all you reap what you sow,
Growing on undaunted by adversity.

I fall with it's colors ablazing,
It yields to some order of nature,
It's luxurious coat is now fading,
But will never give up it's stature.

For God has given it winter to rest,
For it's passed the seasons of test,
If patient till Spring, will awaken again,
To see tiny acorns to large oaks begin.

Oh, she came to us a little puff ball
Nudged her way into the heart of us all
Yellow bright eyes and sleek shiny fur
Xenia she was, a welcome guest for sure

Oh, she was soft, sweet, a bundle of joy
Now our best friend and such a cuddly toy
Yacky and sassy she talked to me secretly
Xanthic eyes were rewarding me sweetly

Oh she ran to the door to welcome us back
No bombs here for she checked every sack
Yielding rarely she beat up both dogs
X-raying the woods and pouncing on logs

Oh she stole my heart then stomped it flat
Never such love have I felt for a cat
Yesterday's gone and it stole her away
Xenia is gone such a sad tragic day

Onyx we love you and miss you so much
Nestled within you a magical touch
You came and you went yet never apart
Xanthic eyes will live on in my heart!

Onyx was a very special black cat.
She won the heart of everyone she met.
It's God who made the music
And all the reasons why we sing
May you take the time each day
To enjoy God's special gifts
Find beauty that's around you
And let love fill your heart!
