Passing zones were limited to the straights, no passing under braking or in the corner. Speeds were limited to 70mph. I could out-brake and out-corner the little Austin-Healey machine, but I could not use it. I could out-accelerate it and got alongside a couple of times but then we would both be at 70 and it was a stalemate. They were really holding me up. Rather than keep accelerating and risk the wrath of the officials, (note the Road America pace car right behind us,) I pitted to get away from this car and to change the tape in my video camera...It was pretty neat to run up the pit lane anyway... |
