Here's what most of the group looked like on October 7, 2000.
Although a few people were elsewhere when this photo was taken, you can see just about everyone who attended here and on the pages below.

Reunion recap
The big event was held Saturday night, October 7 at the TraveLodge Conference Center on Cascade Road. Nearly 100  people made reservations for the evening, which began with a registration/social hour followed by a buffet dinner, then an evening of fun.

Classmates traveled across the state, as well as the country, to participate in the reunion. Travelers from outside Michigan included:

  • Lori Anderson, Marina Del Rey, CA
  • Nitza Carillo, Long Beach, CA
  • Kathy Munger Bono, Henderson, NV
  • Kathy Esakson Plumley, Houston, TX
  • Dave Anderson, Indianapolis, IN
  • Melanie Layne Sardonia, Round Lake Beach, IL

Special mention was also made of out-of-state classmates who returned their information sheets even though they were unable to attend:

  • Colleen Shangle Holcomb, Blanchester, OH
  • Kerrie O'Connor McGinty, who lives in Narara, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA!!!  (If Kerrie can keep in touch with the class, nobody has an excuse for gettting "lost!")

Reunion chairman Joe Herdegen and his helpers did a great job with arrangements for the evening, including a brain-teasing game of "Who Wants to be a Central Ram?" (hosted by Joe "Regis" Herdegen with help from Sarah "Vanna" Souter Ginebaugh) in which lucky contestants took the "Hot Seat" and answered questions about Central and our class.  Many thanks go to the participants, who included Jeff Campbell, Debra Daniels King, Terri Chapman and also to Eddie Miller, who supplied gift certificates from his new TCBY franchise operation. Regis would have been proud. You can see a few  pictures here.

Other surprises included "dinner speaker" Edward Merizon giving his Central History slide show. Although Mr. Merizon died July 10, 2000, Dave Anderson obtained a videotape recorded in 1994 of "Special Ed" presenting his school history slideshow to one of his classes. The tape covered the history of the school from it's earliest days and included some slides that looked pretty familiar to our crowd. (Is 1977-80 really "history" now?) It also captured Mr. Merizon's sense of humor as he cracked the same old jokes and poked fun at Mr. Lubbers and others. (Read Mr. Merizon's obituary here.)

Several classmates brought yearbooks, and the decorating committee prepared a memorabilia table as well as a slideshow of yearbook and "mock election" images.

DJ service provided by Paul Herdegen (another CHS grad) inspired an energetic conga line at one point, as well as a group of "Electric Sliders." (Or was that "The Hustle?")
