CHS Class of ‘57
45 years later
Reunion scheduled for Oct 5 and 6 , 2002
We made it 45 years! Wow. Our original intent in scheduling a fall reunion date was to have it the same weekend as the current High School Homecoming football game, but they had changed conferences and didn’t have the dates ready in time for us to do that. Our date was two weeks later than homecoming but we still participated in the parade on September 20th. We had our "Class of ‘57" float, a flat bed trailer owned by Junior McCall, pulled by Connie Kinman, while our jukebox blared out the song "The Class of ‘57" by the Statler Brothers from a hidden "boom box" in front of the Jukebox. Meanwhile, Kay Ellen, Kathy Burks Hunter, and Janice Huseman Robinson in their "poodle skirts", bobby sox and "cat’s eye glasses", and Junior McCall in his blue jeans and FFA jacket threw out candy to the crowd from their places in the "Soda Fountain" end of the float.

We had used Frank Snyder’s work garage to decorate the float, with the fake Jukebox contributed by Olga Lee Good Simmons, 45 rpm records from Kathy Burks Hunter’s collection and hand lettered signs done by the group announcing that our Cards should "Flatten the Wheelers", the Audubon team that really did get flattened that night, 42 to 6. Kathy’s husband Kenny drove his ’57 Ford Fairlane behind the float for us - we were ’57 all the way!

Clarinda has an EXCELLENT football team this year. They are now Class 2A District 9, with AUDUBON, LAKE CITY SOUTHERN CAL , RED OAK , LOGAN-MAGNOLIA , MISSOURI VALLEY , MOUNT AYR , CLARKE , NODAWAY VALLEY, CORNING, PERRY, OGDEN, SHENANDOAH, GRISWOLD, WEST CENTRAL VALLEY, and EARLHAM.
