Agesrun, now residing at Whiteriver Warren, Dragonlands
AGE: 44
GENDER: Male
APPEARANCE: 6 feet even, with blue eyes and rusty black hair, graying at
the temples.
ABILITIES: Terau is a skilled minstrel, with a fine voice and excellent memory. He plays the mandolin and fiddle, as well as the recorder. He is sharp-witted and has a good sense of humor, although he tends towards bad puns.
HISTORY: Terau was born in Seign to a minor merchant and a lady's maid. Blind from birth, he was babied by his mother and indulged by his father. From the time he could speak, he was taught to sing, and when his minstrel uncle came to visit one afternoon and heard the child, Terau was swept off to Ravenloch to study at his uncle's music school.
Despite not being able to see, Terau excelled at music, and after graduation married his uncle's ward Lauren, a shopkeeper's daughter and a gifted seamstress. They lived happily for about nine years, until Lauren died giving birth to their second child, taking the infant with her.
Funeral costs and unpaid bills soon robbed Terau of his house and the remainder of Lauren's dowry, leaving him with a 6-year-old son and an empty pocket.
How fortunate, then, that Baroness Aethelton was visiting in the city with her husband! The aging lady, one day while taking tea with a friend near the school, overheard Terau playing with his former teacher, and swept down upon the practice hall to find the source of such lovely noise. Enchanted, she offered the newly-widowed bard a position in her house in Agesrun, playing for herself and her husband's charges. Oh, and he could bring his darling boy, as well. Terau accepted.
PERSONALITY: Terau is, in the manner of bards, slightly conceited. He has a tendency to exaggerate to the point of farfetchedness, and will often begin spinning a tale for no apparent reason at all, other than to hear the sound of his own voice. He does the same thing with random acts of music, sometimes singing, sometimes humming, and sometimes playing. However, Terau's talking to himself is not due to any consent on his part. Instead, he vocalizes things to remember them better, since he cannot write them down.
Terau believes himself to be extremely witty and charming, which he is. (Of course!) He will take the opportunity to flirt at every chance, quite heedless of the lady's status, age, or personality. However, he will never carry through with most of his flirting, since he still feels the loss of his wife Lauren.
Terau is extremely devoted to his son, as well as dependent on him. He often jokes that he lives his life at the whim of his son, and wouldn't do anything without the lad's prior approval.
TELARAN (NPC)
14-year-old son of Terau
Telaran is about 5'3, stocky, and still has a bit of growing to do. He has
his father's face and smile, but his eyes are brown instead of blue, and
his hair is sandy brown instead of black.
Personality wise, Telaran is a friendly lad. Certainly not as flamboyant as Terau is -- after all, he says, one of the pair has to have some sense. He isn't shy, but is intensely curious, and doesn't mind asking questions about things that strike his fancy. Quite often, *lots* of questions, much to his victi-- err, chosen expert's chagrin. He has the dragon affinity, although he doesn't seem in any hurry to join.
