NAME: Sarah Anderson

Height: About 5'7"
Weight: 170 lbs
Hair: Brown/auburn hair (about to the middle of her back)
Eyes: Sky-blue eyes
Appearance: Delicate features, soft voice
Position: Teacher - Basic Music/English/Basic Art/School head librarian
Origins: Dunsbro - parents deceased

Pre-Warren History:

Sarah was asked by the Teaching Guild to move from her current practise to teach at Whiteriver Warren, where the recent problems with the Cult of the Blindfolded Lady drove the only steady teacher out of the Warren to preserve her safety. The Warren children have been schooled informally since and the Guild asked her to step in and assist.

She has never been a huge fan of dragons or their riders - she appreciates what they do, but has never known a dragonrider who has been the least bit respectful towards her. People who look "down" on her because she's only a landbound teacher get under her skin, and so this is a difficult assignment.

Loved by many around the school in Dunsbro, when word got out that she was being transferred, the townspeople had a huge going away party for her and bought her a new horse and most of a new wardrobe. In a futile attempt to pack lightly, she gave much of the clothing away to local charity work except for what she thought she would absolutely need, particularly since many of the outfits were much flashier than she deemed appropriate for a teacher. She is respected by the townspeople as a good teacher and a good listener, active in the community.

However, Sarah doesn't have all that many friends. She is very shy - almost to the point of phobic - and talks seldom to other adults because she never knows what to say. She's never been married, never been in a relationship, and has a few doubts about the stories she's heard about the lascivious side of Warren life. Most of her time is spent reading her books, writing poetry, or preparing lesson plans and she seldom notices that she's lonely.

Armed with her new clothes, her new horse Astarte, her most treasured books, her guitar and her flute, she began her trek to Whiteriver in the evening to avoid the worst of the heat. Nobody saw her go, but everyone felt her leave.

Whiteriver / Recent History:

Sarah fit fairly quickly into life at the school, taking on Oberon as a personal project due to familiarity with dealing with autistic and deaf children in her previous assignment. Despite some initial challenges getting Xanthia to understand the value of forcing her nephew to communicate verbally, his unalloyed pleasure in being able to make himself understood won through.

The usual growing pains (including the requisite verbal sparring match with Analise over one of 'her' students) and some time getting to know her charges aside, she made a place for herself among the children at the Warren and found great joy with them.

Her inherent shyness made relating to the Warren at large somewhat uncomfortable. While she's less skittish about dragonriders in general, she still has some challenges with her assumptions about 'rider morals' that will sometimes result in her saying things that come out wrong.

Dealing with the other adults was a bit more of a challenge, although she did find friendship in two unlikely places, one of which would eventually be more than she could bear.

Eleanora and Sarah became friends when Sarah's knowledge of sign language came up. Sarah made a teaching tree to allow more people to pick up the gestures and make Eleanora's life easier.

Her friendship with Tinker turned out to be more complicated, after literally running him flat at the end of her first Hatching party. After she finally came to terms with her feelings, he was declared missing and presumed dead after a freak Wraithing at Windtide.

Unable to cope with the memories that seemed to haunt her at every turn, Sarah retired from the Warren to continue her studying at the Guild of Teachers in Ralengarde.

After years of healing and hard work, she's coming back to Whiteriver. It's said that home is the place where when you show up, they have to take you in. She's not entirely sure about that, but the Warren is the closest thing she's ever known to a sense of 'home'.

Time may not heal all wounds, but it lessens them.
