Name: Nyjel
Age: Unknown (14 or 15)
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Naturally thin and narrow-shouldered, with less than average
height for his age. Ragged, dirty blond hair partially hides a pair of ears
that stick out a bit. Blue eyes sit above rounded, dimpled cheeks and a
sharp chin. While his voice has mostly settled into its adult timbre, it
still breaks occasionally - usually under extreme agitation.
Abilities:
Nyjel is a fast and agile runner, and can move almost silently
through city streets or along city roofs. He has well-developed instincts
for navigating streets, back allies, and the nooks and crannies of the
city's skyline. Nyjel has quick and nimble hands, but no formal education;
he can neither read nor write, and his math skills are limited to counting
coins. Never having left Tilharnon, Nyjel doesn't know the first thing
about how to survive where humans don't live. Despite the amount of
violence he's witnessed in his young life, Nyjel does not know how to fight
- his abilities to run, dodge, and hide have kept his skin whole so far.
History:
The streets of Tilharnon are not a hospitable place for a young
boy alone. Abandoned by an unremembered mother and father, Nyjel has
managed to survive by being quick, being smart, and by hiding. Having
learned at an early age that street-gangs don't treat the youngest and
smallest well at all, Nyjel struck out on his own. Operating as much at
night as during the day, Nyjel pops out of the shadows and disappears back
into them with whatever he manages to nab. While he spends most of his time
surrounded by sea of humanity that inhabits Tilharnon, Nyjel keeps himself
alone; he avoids interacting with other people whenever possible. Because
of this, he never steals anything that he cannot personally use, since he
has nobody to whom he could sell any stolen goods.
Personality:
Nyjel is a loner by habit more than by nature - his early
abandonment and mistreatment conditioned him to fear and avoid other people,
relying only on himself. He doesn't like to be noticed, and stays in hiding
when he thinks other people are nearby and might notice him. He is very
lonely, but never having experienced anything else, he doesn't realize that
there's another way to feel. While he is fairly bright, Nyjel is not used
to thinking about anything that doesn't directly effect his survival -
including other people.
