PERSONALITY:
Nerika is outgoing and friendly, but there is also a certain intensity
about her. She is the type who, once she puts her mind to something, is
determined to succeed no matter what. She is independent-minded and
assertive, not at all afraid to speak her mind.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
She has always dreamed of being a Bard, but refuses to admit that she lacks
the "Bardic Gift". Because she does not really desire to be a dragonrider,
she just as steadfastly ignores her very real talents in that area, and
refuses to work seriously toward developing them.
HISTORY:
Nerika is the daughter of a bard, and grew up in the city of Cabral on the
seacoast. From an early age, she knew that her calling in life was to
follow in her father's footsteps and become a bard. Her father, wishing to
encourage her in her chosen field, spared no effort to train her - and no
expense in having her trained when he himself could not be there to attend
to this himself.
Although Nerika showed an aptitude for music and verse, and became skilled in both vocal and instrumental music, it became clear over time that she simply did not have the special "gift" that makes a minstrel or performer into a true Bard. Her father tried as gently as possible to break this to her, but she could not accept this. Learning that the Master Bard for Cabral's magical pocket was visiting the warren, she set out for Jasra.
Unfortunately the Master Bard had left the warren by the time Nerika arrived. But the girl happened to arrive just in time for a hatching, and to her great surprise ended up being chosen.
The Swordmaster Jerram recognized at once what Nerika herself could not, that her real abilities were those associated with being a dragonrider, and privately advised Warrenlady Tara that she might one day go far if she would only accept it as her calling. But Nerika could not make the necessary mental adjustment, and continued to dream of becoming a great Bard, traveling throughout the lands - a goal which would be greatly facilitated by having a dragon at her disposal. But both Tara and Jerram knew of her desires, and for that reason resolved to keep an eye on her. And so it was that Nerika decided that it was time to move on to another warren.

A calm and friendly dragon, she is both fun-loving and outgoing when not
working. She is patient with her rider's determination to go her own way,
