Name: Navra
Position: Scribe Journeyman
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 120
Hair Color: brown (straight, long- past her shoulder blades)
Eye Color: bright blue (her most striking feature)
Physical appearance:
Navra is petite and shy, and tends to hide behind her long hair. Her features are plain, almost too plain, except for her eyes. Because she spends so much time with them downcast, however, very few notice them.
She is curvy, rather than thin, and was teased about her build as an apprentice.
Personality:
Really, very few people notice her, and it is one reason that her career choice was appropriate. No one notices scribes, and that is the way they like it; it enables those who become historians to record history without bias.
She's shy and retiring, but it's more from years of criticism and browbeating than from real personality. She will become more cheerful once she's exposed to people who will support and encourage her, rather than yelling at every little mistake. Her shyness will melt away with a little time and approval, and she will learn to mix well with others.
She's not ambitious, but if she felt it necessary to step up, she would. She is trustworthy and could be a leader, but if she felt that the leader she was following was doing a good job, she would be the staunchest and most loyal underling they'd have.
She has no idea that most men admire women with curves, since she spent most of her time holed up learning to read and write, and then journeying from place to place with a rather crusty older female master who didn't particularly like her. She's oblivious to her appearance currently. Someday she could want a relationship. First she has to build some confidence, though!
Talents/abilities:
She's never tried to sing, but as a child she danced and she misses it a lot. Given the chance, she'd dance and sing. She has no ability with weaponry, though. She's a gifted scribe, and is a very talented sketch artist. She loves animals, considers the owl her personal totem, and is an excellent listener and advice giver.
She possesses an unusual post-cog ability. Her unusual talent of post-cog means that the accidental touching of any object may or may not reveal a lot more about that object than she wants to know. As a result, she wears gloves to avoid that. When she engages her post-cog abilities, she is pretty useless for several hours (even sometimes days) after it, and thus she attempts to avoid using it unless absolutely necessary.
Weaknesses:
Her 'gift' of post-cog can sometimes be incredibly painful, and so she avoids casual contact, wearing gloves and avoiding circumstances where she might have to take them off. She is wary of physical contact because of some painful experiences, and her lack of trust in other people at the moment.
She's also mildly allergic to milk. Hence why she couldn't stay with her parents.
History/family:
She was landborn, to a city dwelling baker and his wife. At an early age (about 6), she was essentially sold to a scribe because she was useless in the bakery- she couldn't mix the local bread because it required milk, and she was allergic (breaking out in hives and occasionally even unable to breathe because of contact with large quantities).
The scribes took her in and made her an apprentice. She had a talent for it, lucky for her, and she quickly rose to journeyman status. However, due to her ebullient personality, she was continually browbeaten and criticized by the other journeymen and one of the Masters; the woman who eventually dragged her to the Province where she was Searched.
She has not traveled extensively- most of her travel was in one province, the one represented by her Master. It was on one of her rare journeys outside of the training house when she was Searched while on assignment with her Master, Doila. She wouldn't have considered going to a Warren voluntarily before, but she is now hoping it will be her salvation. She has been working in the warren offices as a scribe since arriving at Whiteriver.
She has two older brothers, an older sister, and a younger brother. She's not aware of any aunts, uncles, or cousins, and because she was sent away so young, she has no idea what has happened to any of them. Her childhood was unremarkable, save for her illnesses. Her parents considered her 'worthless' because she was sickly (from the undiagnosed allergy-they couldn't afford a healer), and shuffled her off at the earliest possible opportunity.
She has some resentment she's suppressed because of that.
She was basically 'sold' to the scribes for her apprenticeship. She has enemies- two of the journeymen she apprenticed with hated her passionately- and only one friend, also a journeyman scribe. Her only ambition was to become a master so she could escape from beneath Doila's thumb.
Dragon:
Dragon's Name: Zalyth
Gender: female
Color: purple fading to lavender and white at her wingtips
Personality:
Zalyth is comforting, quiet, and once Navra's real personality resurfaces, she'll be a complement to her cheerful, empathetic (not empathic!), and outgoing bond-mate. Zalyth is a content dragon, mostly quiet, but with a wickedly sarcastic sense of humor that surfaces every once in a while.
