Other Distinguishing Characteristics: very long slender fingers, birthmark on left hand in the form of 3 parallel red lines, almost looks like a cat scratch.
Demeanor: Quiet, tries not to be noticed. Usually wears dark jewel tone clothing, dark blues, maroon, forest green. Prefers tunic, trousers and boots.
Parents: Maelynn, a member of the Killaglen Weaver's Guild. F'ran, a dragonrider from Whiteriver Warren. Father died when Moira was 7. She remembers his visits and his dragon Fazul very well though. Mother died when she was 15.
Siblings: None known
Other relatives: None known
Unusual abilities: Psychometry. The ability to hold an
object that has had close contact with someone or which
is cherished by someone and be able to tell who owns the
object and minor information about the person.
Background: Maelynn had been wed at a young age, but
lost her husband and toddler daughter when they went on a
caravan trip. Husband and daughter were killed in a wraith
attack on the caravan. Maelynn had stayed home because
of feeling ill.
She lived the "proper" life of a widow for a few years until
one day she met F'ran, a dragon rider from the Whiteriver
Warren. He had stopped at the guild to water his dragon
from the stream nearby. He returned to visit her often,
amidst considerable scandel about the Guild. In a few
months Maelynn found that she was pregnant. F'ran
pleaded with her to become his mate and come to the
WhiteRiver Warren, but she refused, knowing that at any
time F'ran could be hurt or killed and knowing that she
could not bear than kind of loss again, especially in so
strange a place as a Warren.
Maelynn raised Moira in the Weaver's guild, and F'ran
visited his daughter often. Moira has some memories of
this. F'ran was killed in an accident when she was 7,
breaking Maelynn's heart. She become ill and slowly wasted
away, dying eight years later. Neither Maelynn nor Moira
really knew what had happened to F'ran, just that he had
stopped coming to visit. Maelynn thought he had taken a
Warren mate and forgotten about them. Moira later
discovered the truth when she was searched and brought
to the Warren, F'ran had died mysteriously while on patrol.
Moira has some basic knowledge of how to care for sick
people, because of caring for her mother. She doesn't know
much about herbs or other healing however.
She often endured taunts and harrassment because of
being raised a bastard. After her mother died it only became
worse, as she was now orphaned and dependent on the
guild. At the age of 8 her talent manifested itself, and the
guildmembers shunned her even more. She quickly learned
to act like as if her ability didn't exist.
It did not help matters any that she grew so very tall and
that her eyes were unnerving to look into. Moira has
adapted a manner of standing, a way of shrinking in on
herself, to make herself look smaller, and seldom looks
people in the eye. She will answer questions quietly and
respectfully, but seldom offers opinion. When asked for
one she usually will state "I wouldn't know anything about
that." and divert the conversation from herself. Some of
that has changed since coming to the Warren, but in times
of stress she will revert to old habits.
Moira has achieved her general training, and is able to spin
thread, dye cloth, weave, and sew. There had been some
discussion of apprenticing her to a master to expand her
skills in one of thes areas, but no one is inclined to take a
bastard orphan under thier wing, especially one so uncanny
as Moira.
Moira has a love of color, when her training in cloth dyeing
took place she actually enjoyed it immensely. Secretly she
has taken small amounts of dye and warped or flawed
white material and painted with it, she keeps the paintings
hidden in her small room. She also loves to sing, though
she has a quiet voice and will seldom do so around other
people.
After coming to the Warren Moira stayed for a time with
Barry, a tailor, finding a second father in him. Unfortunately,
Barry was killed in an attack by the Blindfolded Lady Cult.
Moira helps out in the healing center, is currently under
dragonrider training, and has been using her unusual talent
to try and track down various cells of the Cult. Her anger
and hatred for them is nigh on overwhelming.
Dragon: Vasra
Color: Indigo and black
Eye Color: pale green
Demeanor: Vasra is fairly calm and slow to ire, but can be
wicked if she or Moira are threatened. Her hatching was
traumatic thanks to the Blindfolded Lady Cult, as well as
Moira lost a loved one in the attack...so Vasra harbors
considerable hatred towards the followers of the
Blindfolded Lady, mirroring Moira's own.
