Ash'chenon and Wyndamenth

Player: Allen Veazey

Name: Ash'chenon
Age: late 40's
Gender: Male
Eyes: very light grey
Hair: silvery-white, almost shoulder-length
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 170 lbs

Appearance:
Tall, thin to the point of emaciation, but wiry; the ripple and play of muscles can be easily seen. The skin itself is darkly tanned, turned by the Wastelands sun into a coffee-brown; a multitude of white scars criss-cross his body and stand out sharply against the darkness of his skin. One such scar runs from his forehead, past his left eye (the eye has whitened over the years, like a cataract), down his face, and continues on his chest. His clothes are a combination of many different styles and materials, from all over the realm; green snakeskin boots, a jacket and riding gloves of fine black leather, black denim-like trousers, a silk-like white shirt, and what appears to be another shirt of fine chain-links underneath. Ash carries a long, slightly curved sword in a scabbard across his back, positioned for an over-the-shoulder draw. At his belt are a pair of /as en/, the curved throwing knives of the Nomad Lands. At his saddle he keeps a short, recurved bow and a quiver of arrows.

He also plays music, especially the lap harp; his technique is very precise, if emotionally lacking.

Abilities:
Strategy/Tactics- Ash'chenon is gifted in the field of military science, a combination of aptitude, good teachers, and a lifetime of training. He has led small groups and great armies, served as a general for the landbound all over the realm, and even led an army of wraiths as a hellspawn. He is the best swordsman of his generation and arguably the best in the realm. Landbound engagements, army logistics, Warren tactics, sea battles, a lifetime of combat knowledge and experience rolls and thunders in his head. Now in the late prime of his life, he has reached the peak of his ability.

Empathy- Ash discovered early that he could read the thoughts and feelings of others. For a time, this ability was focused through the use of a crystal he found in the Wastelands, but he no longer needs such a tool. Distance affects this ability, as does the strength of the emotion. Ash uses this to help communicate with his pet and with his dragon. The ability is often tied up with his own emotions, so he tends not to reveal this gift to others.

History:
Ash's history is... extensive... and many of the stories of his life have faded over time into legend. Born of two dragonriders (both lost in a wraith attack near Whiteriver), Ash was raised by Mnepath, the weaponsmaster of Whiteriver Warren. A child prodigy, Ash designed many of the flying tactics that the warren still uses, decades later. In his middle teens, he Joined with the red-and-yellow Solaris, and led a special "Delta" wing at Whiteriver.

He and Solaris were attacked by rogue dragonriders while alone; Sol was killed, and Ash was rescued by a mysterious rider (which turned out to be a time-travelling Tahlaya) and brought back to the warren. After he healed, ruined by the tragedy, several attempts were made to Join him at other Hatchings. They failed miserably, and he eventually left the warren.

Ash wandered into the wastes to die; when even those harsh lands failed to kill him, he returned to the Dragonlands as a mercenary. He led private armies for many years, wandering, selling his skills to the highest bidder. General, teacher, bodyguard, musician, scout, spy, he moved across the realm and made a name for himself, then sought to stay out of the public eye when many came to challenge him and his reputation... or one of his many enemies sought revenge.

Skirting the edges of the wastelands, Ash was injured by one of the warped creatures that lived near the mountains surrounding Telnor. He survived, and even found a lion cub and the crystal that awoke his empathic abilities. He stayed at Telnor for a time: he became the mate of Tahlaya of Telnor; eventually became Telnor's weaponsmaster; befriended and became the rider of a riderless dragon; fathered, then lost a daughter (which they had named Solara, after his dragon); raised an army to defeat the landbound Lord Patka, (and accidentally killed a dragon-rider pair who aided that Lord); helped discover the pockets of magic which led to the discovery of the Lost Dragonlands; was infected by hellspawn (and led an army of wraiths that nearly wiped out Geode Warren); then miraculously survived to return to Telnor with Tahlaya. Pardoned by the Dragonlady for his actions, Ash still could not bear the guilt of his deeds (and was often the target of the other riders, pardon or no) and took leave from Telnor with Tahlaya. They split up after a time, their relationship unable to take the strain of events; Ash went back into the wastes with Wyndamenth, his unpaired dragon. Being unjoined, they could move about in the Wastelands without injury, as they did not have the vulnerability of other dragonriders. But they had to return; unexpectedly, his dragon became ill, and Ash'chenon discovered that the warping magic of the Wastes had forged a telepathic bond between him and Wyndamenth. Now that they've had to stay within the realm, the pair realized that they would have to come back to the Warrens...
Personality:
Ash'chenon is, well, insane. That is his greatest weakness and his greatest strength; his mental discipline, fighting off his personal demons, allowed him to survive being possessed by one of the hellspawn. Ash has an alter- ego, the voice of Solaris, his long-lost dragon, in his head; suprisingly, Wyndamenth can hear and converse with this Solaris-voice just as Ash can (and this is a VERY worrisome thing for him). Ash'chenon is creative, passionate, intelligent, yet he always acts quiet and reserved; he has the air of someone who stays in control because they are afraid of what will happen when they let go. Ash has already demonstrated to everyone what could happen if he loses control of himself. Several times.
Whatever his internal battles, he is fiercely loyal to his dragon and has a strong instinct for self-preservation; those seeking revenge for the sins of his past will not find him an easy target.

Name: Wyndamenth
Race: Dragon
Age: 7 or 8
Gender: Female
Color: Sky blue with dark blue highlights, blue-black eyes
Appearance:
Wyndamenth is somewhat small for a dragon, 60-65 feet in length, but is agile and has much endurance. Her once iridescent eyes turned black with the death of her first rider, L'vee.

Personality: Wyn is remarkably intelligent, and has learned to understand most human speech (mostly from her time with Ash as an unjoined pair). She became very ill during her time in the Wastelands, and this has resulted in her losing the urge to mate... yet somehow, she has gained a telepathic bond with Ash'chenon. She is bright, funny, and a bit naive, though this is rapidly changing with her conversations with Solaris and Ash.

Name: Avid
Race: Mountain Lion (wastelands)
Age: 8
Gender: Male
Color: Overall light brown with tan patches, with black claws and black nose; yellow eyes
Appearance: Huge, sleek, and dangerous, Avid is nearly silent when he walks. He is always hungry, which earned him his name, and is the only lion that is trained to ride on a dragon. He communicates more by empathic projection than sounds, which has made it easy for Ash to understand and train him.
