NAME: Arideregh (nickname is Ari)
AGE: 21
GENDER: female
EYES: golden amber
HAIR: Nutmeg with golden streaks and highlights.
HEIGHT: 55
WEIGHT: 115

APPEARANCE: She is of slight build, but well toned and slightly muscular. Ari has spent most of her life in the out-doors, so she is well tanned, giving her skin a golden color. Her hair is cropped short. Her hair has that fly away tendency, giving her a perpetual wind blown look. Aris eyes are the most startling of her features. It is what most notice about her first. Some have said her eyes remind them of a hawk or falcon. Ari has this cat-like grace and a natural sensuousness about her. She has the walk of a natural hunter, and does have a tendency to appear to sneak up on one. She is totally unaware of this unusual quality about herself.

ABILITIES: Ari has a natural gift of healing, and has been well trained with hands on experience from the healers in her parents settlement. She also seems to have some sort of empathy with animals, although it has been recognized that she seems to be able to communicate with the wild dragons in the surrounding area of her parents research. (telepathy). Ari knows how to live off the land, and survive in the wilderness. Camping is the mainstay of her life. She can hunt with a bow, make snares, has learned many uses for her dagger, and is well versed in the art of knots.

PERSONALITY: Ari is very confident with who she is. She has been raised with a lot of love, and much freedom. Ari was raised from young childhood as part of her parents dragon research team. She is use to being treated as an equal. She can handle most situations if they deal with nature, animals and especially dragons. Ari has never been to a town or city. She has no clue to the intricacies of human social interactions or relationships. Being raised as she has been everything for her is either black or white. She is a watcher of others. She never thinks of herself, only how something will affect the others around her. This comes from part personality and the other part her training and life style with her parents and their research. Her only true friend is Azhy, her dragon. They are inseparable.

HISTORY: Ari was born in the research settlement of her parents. Her parents never thought they would be able to have a child. They had spent the first 20 years of their marriage and life together always working in the field of their study. Their research is funded by the King and the Council.

It is a study of ecology surrounding the towns, and cities, and the impact of the warrens have on the natural wildlife. Both parents have a grand passion for dragons, and spend a lot of time studying them. When Ari was about 5 years old, she had awoken from a dream crying about a dragon that was hurt and dying. The next morning while out on their usual rounds of checking the different stations, the research team stumbled upon a young female dragon, wounded in a battle of some sort, with a huge gash upon her haunches. She was weak and near death. Her parents were astonished and so happy about all the wonderful research material they would glean from this. They saved the life of the dragon although she had lost her clutch of eggs. Ari helped care for the dragon, and unknown to all she could understand the dragon. Her parents saw that Ari was now ready to help them with their research, and that she seemed to have a natural healing talent especially with animals. So, they had her learn from their team of healers.

The next spring when the dragons returned to lay their eggs, in their nesting grounds, Ari watched from afar. Because of the female who had been saved in the previous season, the others left her alone. She watched and learned much from the wild dragons. She freely gave information about the humans, and many times with the help of her parents, helped them find food. In one particular year, the research team and little settlement worked tirelessly to help the wild dragons survive an unusual plague that almost wiped them out. With her parents help Ari helped the dragons find the herbs and shrubs needed to add to their diet to help them survive. The female shared some knowledge of them, and Ari enjoyed her talks with this powerful female. Ari never told her parents of her ability to communicate with not only the female dragon, but of her off-spring. She also failed to mention all the nesting grounds she had discovered. This went on many years, until the age of 16. Ari grew in stature, in knowledge of the ways of nature and the wild. She became a highly prized healer and important member of the research team.

Then came the hatching season, and once again Ari had been called to witness the hatchings. This time was different, for when she got to the nesting grounds, she was led to a small cave like outcrop. Inside was a small nest of 6 eggs. It was the nest of the female her parents had saved 11 years previous. Ari was then told that one of the eggs was hers. It was a gift from the mother to her, for all of her kindness, and help through the years. It was also in thanks that she had in fact saved many of the wild dragons from certain death.

So, when the hatchings began, Ari waited and watched with excitement, to see which dragon would be her special one. The female told her that she had spoken to all of her children about Ari, her family, and the humans, and this year, one wished to be hers. Ari was very excited, and not once did she think what her parents would think. One by one the eggs cracked, shook, small shards of shell flew into the air, until all 6 dragons were born. Ari never ceased to wonder how beautiful this moment was. She backed up a bit, knowing that they all needed some space. One followed her, and stopped when she did. She sat kneeling in front of this small but beautiful creature. It was a nutmeg color, and had golden amber eyes. He looked at her with interest and nuzzled her. Ari smiled and nuzzled him back with a giggle. *you may give him a name when you are ready* came the voice of the female to her. *we do not name ourselves, not as you human do, for to name a thing is to own a thing* Ari nodded and looked back into his eyes. The thought came to her, and she turned to look at the dragon and he nodded. *Azhgre* they both spoke at the same time.

The first year caring for Azhy was the most interesting and fun time of her life. Aris parents said nothing about her new pet and friend. The deal she made with them was that she would catalog and write up indepth reports to add to her parents research.

For the next few years, Aris life consisted of her daily chores and research in her parents research group. She would rise early in the morning and by noon had completed her tasks and chores so that she was free to spend the rest of the day with Azhy.

Their relationship has grown deeper as the years pass, and Ari does not know what she would do without Azhy. Ari has no friends or companions, she has never been allowed to go with the others when they make their annual trip to the big city to turn in their reports and plan their next year research. Ari has always been left behind and in the later years she stayed behind to care for the settlement.

One afternoon with the hot desert winds blowing from the south a group of 4 dragonriders flew over a small lake searching for the research settlement to which they had been assigned to deliver some supplies. One of the dragonriders spotted a few young wild dragons splashing in the lake and some basking on the rocks near-by. His shout directed the groups attention towards the unheard of sight.

Then they saw a young girl with them and seemingly surrounded by them. Their interest grew, then their concern and they detoured and went to go check it out. When they dipped closer they were met with quite a surprising sight. For the young girl was not so young. She also had not a stitch of clothing on. She was laughing and playing with the young dragons and suddenly dove into the water and came up splashing a larger nutmeg colored Male dragon.

After a small altercation with all parties, Ari led them back to the Settlement, where the next few hours were spent trying to explain how Ari needed to return to their warren with them; that Ari was special and was needed.

After a lengthly debate, Ari found herself packed up and leaving the only home and security she had ever known. As they flew off and over the lake, Ari turned back for one long last look, took a deep breath and turned to her future.

Dragon
NAME: Azhgre (nickname azhy)
AGE: 5
GENDER Male
COLOR: nutmeg colored with golden streaks
APPEARANCE: Azhy is an average sized dragon. He is still on the lean side due to the fact that he is a wild dragon. His scales are soft and shiny, very smooth, but this is due to Ari and her impeccable grooming of him. He is very powerful, but is very gentle with Ari. His scales and coloring matches Aris, and they both have the same color eyes.

PERSONALITY: Azhy is a smart ass. He loves to play practical jokes, and Ari is usually the recipient. He is absolutely smitten with her, and fascinated by all humans. When speaking of her to his family he refers to her as HIS human. He does pout at Ari claiming that he is HER dragon. He is a dare devil and loves to shows off, but again this all to impress Ari. He does tend to be a know it all. Loves to tease and flirt, but has had no desire to mate. He is considered rather strange among the other dragons. He personally thinks he is very handsome and struts with this knowledge. He also loves to flex his muscles to show off the speckling and streaks in the sunlight. Azhy also loves to be pampered and babied. He loves getting his bath and being massaged. Both Ari and Azhy love this special time of grooming.
