I have found myself fortunate in the sense that I had been exposed to a great number of Tangerine Dream records during my years of growing up, including most of
the earlier years of when composer Christopher Franke formed an integral part of this electronic (instrumental) musical group, along side Edgar Froese and Peter Baumann.
Even if only at the beginning of their career, as Tangerine Dream these three men became popular through-out their home country of Germany in no time, and as it stands today
they are still known for having been one of the first musical groups who not only experimented but also excelled with electronic synthesizers. After a variety of released records
and soundtrack recordings for such movies as 'Legend' and 'Risky Business', TD also became known for their laser light displays during their concert tours, and in 1988 after
a hectic eighteen years with his two musical partners, Franke left all of it behind.
After a short period of rest and self endeavor, Franke moved on in 1990 to settle in Los Angeles where he opened his own studio, where work was no rare occasion for a pioneer
in electronic music. He found the Berlin Symphonic Film Orchestra in 1991 as well as his own record label in 1993 called Sonic Images, underneath which he has released a variety of
acoustic/ambient/and techno-trance scores for both film and television.

Christopher Franke:
"Nature wanted me to be a painter, but by accident I became a musician. Actually, I think of myself as a sonic painter or a sculptor of sound."
I have come to appreciate and respect instrumental compositions over the years and therefore it comes as no big surprise that I prefer a musical score instead of the generic boyband flavor
of the week when it comes to films and television series. Franke is only one of a handful of musicians I have come to admire for this reason mentioned above, and in this manner it has in effect
become a part of my humanity and existence... musicians such as Mike Oldfield and Vangelis, who composed one of my all time favorite masterpieces for his work on the 'Blade Runner' OST.
But back to Christopher Franke and as to why I chose to link to his official website... I don't know, I suppose since I am a fan of sci-fi television series, I simply have a soft spot... enough said!
