| previous page <<< a religious cult in disguise, trying to prove that evolution is a falsehood. They were very sly and stealthy about it, and had both Julianne and I fooled for about ten minutes, while we watched people step up to the microphone and answered various, unrelated trivia questions. The questions began headed toward some basic information on God and His interaction with human beings. Once they popped the whole religion thing on us, we both became infuriated and stepped off to the side and puked our guts out. The little talent shows were slightly entertaining, but it was the shops that really got our attention. This place is very similar to Venice Beach, except for the fact that there are actual buildings in which the shops are located instead of an endless series of tents. The artifacts that were available at these places included many varieties of drug paraphanalia and sex toys along with an infinite supply of random, overpriced, novelty crap. There were stuffed animals that made noise, insense, penis pumps, books with naked pictures of some guy's ex-girlfriend, etc. It was all horribly amusing to play around with, and we both knew that neither of us, nor the majority of the world's population would ever actually buy any of it. Going to places like this, Venice Beach, and Westwood is just a big field day of playing around with stuff, and then setting it not-so-neatly back on the shelves. It's the American way. I honestly cannot understand how any of these places stay in business with the way they've chosen to operate. The Matrix has you...just wait. |
