Issue 147

Editor-in-Chief: Richard Goldwater; Managing Editor: Victory Gorelick; editor/battle bot: Mike Pellerito.

Cover

Penciled by Patrick Spaziante, colored by Josh Ray.

Sonic, Shadow, and Metal Sonic. Interesting sing Spaz's SA style Metal. Otherwise, nothing special.

"The Good, the Bad, & the Unknown" Part Two: "Ignition"

Written by Ken Penders, penciled by Steven Butler, inked by Jim Amash, lettered by John Workman, colored by Jason Jensen.

Usual great Butler art... Tails and Tommy find the security center, and supervise Sonic, Rotor, and the girls' trip through the maze. Then they spot Shadow fighting Metal Sonic, and Sonic can't resist joining in. Unfortunately, Metal and Shadow team up to fight Sonic. Fiona trips a security measure, and a few pages later, we see a tiny panel of her, Bunnie, and Rotor being "electrocuted" (which technically means they should be dead next issue, but "shocked" was probably what was meant). Finally, attempting to help, Tails presses a red button, and a trap door opens under the fighters.

"This Side of Parodies"

Written by Mike Gallagher, penciled by Dave Manak, inked by Rich Koslowski, lettered by John Workman, colored by Jason Jensen.

Mike G and Dave make themselves superheroes for their Off Panel cameo. However, they can't even get along, let alone beat an old retired badnick.

...This is what "Off Panel" should be! Great stuff.

"Fox and the Hound"

Written by Romy Chacon, penciled by Al Bigley, inked and lettered by Ken Penders, colored by Jason Jensen.

Tails and Muttski play, but Muttski gets a little enthused.

Quite good art (a few of the expressions are a little odd, but mostly they're really expressive). Bigley has made it. (Biggest prob is Jensen's shiny fur coloring... )

Story interesting, but the dialog sounds corny. (And the Scooby references are almost unforgivable.)

Sonic-Grams

Letters from "Riku" Process, Mark Neeley, Paul Dale Roberts, and Bryan Knox.

Art by Cameron Dodd, Tyler McGrath, Thebe "Adamis" Jean-Fancis, and Jed Bartley. Tyler's is good, but my fav is the one by Adamis.

Start: Mike continues to talk about issue 150 and the Sonic X comic.

Off Panel (written by Mike Gallagher, drawn by Dave Manak, and colored by Francisco Goata): As if we hadn't had plenty of Off Panel for the month, we get little strip about how helpful Tails is around the office.

Final-Thoughts:

The first story was more pointless fighting, and the last would have been better without any words, but it was an okay issue, all things considered. Nothing special, but a nice change from the awful work we've had to wade through in other semi-recent issues.
