The tables have turned (and run off)

July 31st, 2004. The "blue" moon night (2nd full moon in a month):

Here we are again, playing around with the same formatting that I began with (from bluerobot.com and changing it some more to suit my tastes. This exercise was to begin to find a format that I would like personally and also to play around with different CSS attributes and learn about how they work with other tags.

And now, to add some content for the readers. All three of you.

Drums: I got an awesome video from Ryan at work. Actually, I've gotten quite a few awesome ones from him, but this one is special because it's the Red Hot Rhythm drum instructional video by Chad, the drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers! He's such an awesome drummer and he tries to teach those lacking in skill (like me) with what he calls "slow" drum beats, yet those still turn out to be pretty much impossible for someone of my skill. I'll just keep practicing the beats in my book, and hopefully build a good enough foundation to start playing along to some of the music in the 'Pod. I'm thinking of a hi-hat stand next folks. The last piece to complete my set, not including a drum tuning (which I bet I really need).

C#: So Marcus drops the bomb on us on Friday, and tells us that he's been hired by a game developer company. Needless to say, that's awesome for the guy; he's always wanted to get into that and now he gets his chance! Ironically, the company that hired him is also the company that hired Chad away from us. Hmm. Anyway, this means that his FTP piece needs to be handed off. Mariam volunteered to take it, but Jeremy thinks that as she is the entire IT department for the company, she'll be busy enough with those tasks and that I should take over it. Time to bust out some C# learning. Downloaded me some Visual C# Express 2005 the other night. I must say, it looks to me like the prettiest IDE developed, EVAR. It's nicer even than Macromedia's IDE, and it even includes all the nice helper text for the dummies (read: me!). If you could toss up an entire FTP program in a couple hundred lines of code, C# surely must have something good going for it. Time to figure out what that is.

Dance: Been doing some swing with my pal Julia a lot lately (the dancing, not the other one). The last class was pretty bad for me; the instructor was just off that day and I wasn't getting the timing right for my steps. Today things were pretty good though; we watched this DVD that my parents had (actually, we had two DVDs) and we figured out some dual-turns for both of us. And, we tried some combos without basic steps in between! She had a neat idea: Why not try these steps at a real swing club (she mentioned Pasadena)? Anyone know of any good places?

Et cetera: Gragg's supposed to call me this weekend about this web stuff. So, I guess while I wait, I'll just keep on learning how to use CSS and keep on trying to find that perfect layout.

Guess that's it for this night. Peace, fools.
