| � Master Huo, also named Huo Jun Qing, lived in Xiao Nan He (which means small southern river) village in TianJing Jinghai area. His original family home is An Le (which means ease) village of Dong Guang area in He Bei province. Huo is the founder of Jing Wu Martial Art School, also a famous patriotic martial art master in latter days. | |||||||||||
| � Huo's father, Huo En Di, was also a famous secret faction master at his time. As Huo was valetudinarian during his childhood, his father worried that he might impair the reputation of Huo family and refused to teacher him the martial arts. However, Huo had a better expectation of himself, he observed secretly when his father taught martial arts to his brothers and practiced diligently in wild forests. Later, his father knew all and blamed him. Huo promised he would never fight with others and humiliate the reputation of the Huo family. Thus, he got permission from his father to practice martial arts with other brothers. With talent, perspicacity and great willpower, Master Huo acquired much better progress than his brothers. Therefore, his father changed his mind and devoted all his attention to teach Huo Yuan Jia. Soon, Huo use martial arts to make friends, combining advantages from different factions, finally developing ancestor's "Secret Faction Fist" into "Puzzle Faction Art" and push the ancestor's martial arts to a new summit. | |||||||||||
| � In Guang Xu (one Emperor of Qing Dynasty) Calendar Year 1896, a hero from ShanDongProvince named Liu Zheng Sheng came to Tian Jing. He admired Huo for his talent and asked to be an apprentice. Huo found that Liu was very honest, so he fulfilled Liu's request. Thus, the "Huo Family Fist" tradition of only teaching family members was broken. Master Huo was a chivalrous man. In Guang Xu Calendar 1898, Tan Si Tong was murdered because of political reform. "Great Falchion" Wang Wu (also named Wang Zi Bing) took refuge in Tian Jing. Wang and Huo felt like old friends at the first meeting and became best friends. Wang Wu was also murdered in Beijing later and his head was cut off by Eight Country United Army and hung up as a warning to all. Huo Yuan Jia and Liu Zheng Sheng sneaked into Beijing and stole back Wang's head. With the help from Liu E, who was the author of "Mr. Derelict" they buried the head together with the body, trying their best to carry out the responsibility as friends. | |||||||||||
| � Xuan Tong (last Emperor of Qing Dynasty) Calendar Year 1909, an English strong man named Opian published an advertisement in Shanghai and insulted Chinese "East Asia Sick Man", Master responded to friends' invitations and came to Shanghai to fix a date to fight. Being afraid of Huo's prestige, the opponent threatened Huo by asking for 10,000 Yuan deposit. With friends' support, Huo agreed to that condition. The opponent had to delay the fight over and over again. Huo then published an advertisement in newspaper too, saying "My homeland is jeered as Sick Man's Country, I myself am a sick man in this country and want to compete with heroes all over the world". He also claimed "I especially prefer the foreign strong man. Even they have copper muscle or iron hide, I will not move back!" Huo's prestige made Opian running away without fighting, together with the notary and operator. | |||||||||||
| � On June 1st, 1910, with the assistance of Nong Jing Sun and other friends in the Martial Arts group, Master Huo founded "China Jing Wu Gymnastics Association" (later renamed to "Jing Wu Gym Association") in Shanghai. Mr. Sun Zhong Shan commended Huo's faith of "Only if everyone studies martial arts can the country be strong" and broad mind of making Huo Family Fist public. Mr. Sun also autographed 4 characters as "Martial Arts Advocated Spirit" and gave it to "Jing Wu Gym Association" as a present. In September 1910, the president of the Japanese Judo Association and nearly a dozen other fighting masters came to China to compete with Huo, but they were all defeated. After the competition, Japanese served Huo a banquet. During the banquet, Huo coughed several times, so the Japanese recommended a Japan doctor for treatment. Master Huo was a direct man and he took the medicine without suspicion. He was poisoned and died at the age of 42 on September 14, 1909. | |||||||||||
| � After Huo's death, Shanghai Jing Wu Association was instructed by Huo's younger brother Huo Yuan Qing and Huo's second son Huo Dong Ge. Many branches were founded all over the country. Ten years later, there were 43 Jing Wu branches within or outside of the country, with over 4 million members. | |||||||||||
