next day's entry
previous day's entry July 23, 2003
First off--just looked at my phone and discovered voice mail waiting.  So, I listen to it.  Found out how much my bill for the trip to the hospital was.  I can't believe it.  $2,748.  I don't know what could have possibly been so much.  Yikes.   I have to call her later today, and see what's up.  The bright side is that since I don't have insurance, the state will probably pick up a good portion of that, but seriously here, what's up with health care costs!!!

Speaking of healthcare.  Karla's sister was rushed to the hospital last night, and once again I am stuck 200 miles away.  I really need to figure something out there, some way of being closer in times of need.  Instead, all I can do is hope she gets well really soon, and be there if Karla needs someone to talk to about it.  Nothing like feeling really helpless.

On to happier news--Big Brother.  Interesting TV show, though a little boring sometimes.  But the moments they have can be pretty cool.  Like last night.  I don't think a few members of the house had any idea that the original 8 people there had struck a deal to stick together.  So these 4 were sitting there thinking everyone in the house would vote for the woman from their group that had been put up for eviction.  Nope, 6-2.  The little cute girl is gone.  Surprise!  It was cool to see the house right after that because of the tension.  Weird though how the eviction is supposedly live, and yet they manage to get the family of the loser there for the event.  I can't really believe they fly in both families just in case, you know?  What if someone were nominated a few times?  Their family would be racking up the frequent flyer miles for sure.

At the end of the show, the woman everyone seemed to want to get rid of last week, became head of household.  The question now seems to be, will she continue to hold to the alliance?

I didn't realize how early it is--I have an hour before I even have to start thinking about getting ready for work.  Work.  Blech.  Today I cashier at a different desk than ever before.  So, anything I might have been doing at my old desk I can't do anymore.  This bites.  Cashiers have 2 long down periods, then are busy the rest of the day.  I might as well buy a newspaper to fill the downtimes.

Then again, I should count myself lucky that I have the job I have.  Wish I could give it to someone special right now, who's hating her job.
