| Thanksgiving!!!!! (One of the better holidays, I think, food and football!!) So, Thanksgiving dawned early with loud cats and kids. Actually the kids weren't all that loud, but the extra two cats had to be put outside. I took care of that, then considered going back to bed. But the day beckoned. Lots to do. Pies to make, salad to toss, kids to dress, house to clean. Karla to the store to pick up those damn green onions, and some donuts for the hungry children. And the hungry me, I think. Lol. I made the filling for a pair of Oreo pies and threw them in the freezer to chill. K made a shrimp salad with angel hair pasta that neither of us cared for all that much, but ended up being a hit at the party. Cleaned up the kids a bit, and ourselves, then waited for my parents to arrive. They came with the bed frame I had asked for. Ahhhhh, K's bed in a much more happy place. Also brought a new coat and some sweaters for Karla. Not sure about that so much. Have to keep an eye on her, see if she wears them. Anyway, we packed up and headed over to Karla's mom's house. Walked in and sort of introduced my parents, sort of left them on their own. Went downstairs to play with the kids, but Karla called me back upstairs to be with adults. Boo. We sat for a little while and watched football then it was time to eat. Everything was pretty good. The salad K made got a lot of praise, and my brownies were a hit come dessert time. I have been invited for Christmas now because of them. Comment of the day, from Kori in reference to Karla picking the nuts off her brownie: "Nuts can be pleasurable". No idea what she meant by that, but loved it anyway. In the end all but two of the brownies were eaten, and about half the salad, and one and a half pies. A pretty good job, I thought. My parents and K's mom got along well and had some decent conversation. It was funny, when Donna said, "Its about time we finally met" to my mother. Or maybe not. It struck me funny at the time though. My parents left early for Petosky, and we stayed for a few hours, visiting. Then home we went as well. C |
