| Friday. Woke up, and woke Nathan up. Had to get him ready for the afternoon arrival of Megan and Shaun. I had set him up with his own email and IM accounts so that we could talk during the day and so that, while at my house, he could talk to Shaun, Megan and Karla. So, that's what he did most of the day. Played video games, IMed me with updates and wrote and talked to the Sullivans, until they left around 1:30. Then he just wrote to me to find out when they'd be arriving here. Kind of neat seeing, "Hi, Dad" come up on the computer from time to time. What am I saying, kind of neat? Really, really, really cool, actually. Excellent Idea. Loved it. So a day that was destined to be really, really long became a bit shorter as I had Nathan to talk to all day. I figured K and kids would arrive at work at about 4:30 and we might be able to get out of there kind of early, but it was a toss-up on whether that would really happen or not. It happened. They showed at 4:25. Just as I was switching desks to work the last half hour of the day. I let them know where the candy machines were and let K give the kids a tour of the building. I was fortunate and got out of work about 15 minutes early, and we drove the two blocks to Starbucks (it was kind of cold out). A couple of Cafe Mocha Venti's. Oh, and a Espresso Fantasy brownie. Oh, and 2 suckers. Wait, three. The cashier had fun with us. Impulse shopping at its best. From there we raced home to see Nathan. Unfortunately we needed to stop and get wine and snacks, so delayed arrival by 10 minutes or so. But we got there, and everyone was together again. Then, dinner--fish, macaroni and cheese, and hotdogs. Funny. Dessert was Cheesecake we had gotten. The Heath bar cheesecake ruled! We watched Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, and Scooby-doo. The first movie had trouble holding the kids attention until inside the factory, the second had trouble holding my attention. Then, bedtime. Sort of. Megan, K and I tried to sleep, the boys were too wound up. Eventually they fell asleep upstairs in the bedroom. There is a pair of pics of this in the scrapbook now. Megan slept with us a little to start, and end the night. A good day though. Too short . . . and too long. Though in different ways. C |
