Isle of DoGs by Patricia Cornwell
from Chris McDonough

Guide Rating  -  ***

The Bottom Line

Andy Brazil and Superintendent Judy Hammer team up against confusion, corruption, crime, and the supernatural in Virginia. Dr. Kay Scarpetta, one of the author's serial characters, makes a brief appearance. This novel stands on its own as a great romp through the governor's mansion, highway robbery, and island mischief.

Pros:   A wonderful giggle of a read; great fun
Cons: Some fans expected a Dr. Kay Scarpetta novel and were disappointed

Guide Review - Isle of DoGs by Patricia Cornwell

This novel is a wonderful farce. It must be repeated that this is not a Dr. Kay Scarpetta novel, although Dr. Scarpetta does make a brief appearance. Patricia Cornwell has created an intricately plotted and thoroughly enjoyable farce, played by characters who take themselves so seriously that they are downright funny.
