To President George W. Bush:
Thank you for taking a strong stand for marriage against those who wish to defy the will of the people. I support and encourage you to defend and protect this most important institution in America.
Your pledge comes right in the nick of time when judges in Massachusetts and the Mayor of San Francisco are conspiring against the law. It is good to hear your clear, sound reasoning above the wave of deception in the courts.
The so-called "civil disobedience" in San Francisco only confirms what many conservative Americans already knew: our culture, our values and our moral standards are under attack from the liberal left. This issue was forced upon us, despite the fact the majority of Americans are against redefining the definition of marriage. I agree: It's time to take a stand to defend our nation's laws, morals, and values.
In response to liberal attempts to portray any criticism and opposition to gay marriage as something based in hatred, nothing could be further from the truth. The laws of our land identify marriage as the legal union of a man and a woman. Polls across the country indicate a majority of our fellow citizens agree with this definition.
What we've witnessed in San Francisco shows how the homosexual agenda refuses to respect our laws. We cannot allow for the courts to legislate from the bench. So you have my full support, Mr. President, to use the full power of the White House to both defend marriage and rein in rogue judges.
