Scope and Sequence Discussion

I chose to prepare a semester of scope and sequence on Personal Skill Development in Agriculture. (§119.55.c1A) In this lesson students will learn many opportunities as well as career options that agriculture has to offer. The students will also learn how to demonstrate career skills such as a resume, personal skills, co-worker communication, but most of all leadership. Students are able to research local community resources that will benefit them by giving them tips on the career world and workforce. I feel that personal leadership and skill development is a critical tool that every student should take to better themselves and make them more marketable in the future. I chose this course because it changes student’s perspectives on agriculture jobs. There is so much more than the traditional farming that some students only think about. Once the students begin this class, they are introduced to real-world careers and opportunities.

My rationale for organization of this class is simply learning the basics and then progressing onto the more in depth aspects of personal leadership. I fell that it is well organized and put together. Organization is key to have successful instruction. If the lesson was not understandable, then learning would not occur. I also believe that students will gain so many tools that will help them succeed after graduation. As a professional AGSC teacher, I would benefit from teaching this class because I myself could learn more about personal leadership and skill development than what I previously know. I also feel that there are many changes and it would be great to stay up to date and be in tune with exactly what is going on in the job market.  Personal Leadership is a course for students who are willing to explore new possibilities and become acquainted with the agricultural career field. I strongly recommend this class to all students.
