PowerPoint Discussion

I chose a very basic PowerPoint format for my lesson plan. I decided to use a maroon background with letter and Arial font. The letters are very easy to read and the background shows up well with the light colored letters.  When I give the lesson to a 101 Ag Science class I plan on basing most of my lecture on PowerPoint.

I will encourage the students to answer discussion questions and get involved in class lecture. My concerns with the PowerPoint include losing the attention of the students. I have included many types of animations and also attention keepers to get the students motivated. However, I believe that the students will be able to keep up with the lecture and stay focused on the teacher led discussion. Some of the advantages of using PowerPoint are visual aids; kids can actually see what is being taught. The visual and auditory learners will benefit the most from this type of teaching style. The disadvantages of using PowerPoint is hands-on learners. PowerPoint can get boring at times for students who have to be active while learning. I feel that the students will enjoy the animation and fun effects that I have to offer. This assignment will benefit me in the future by preparing me to create an interesting style of teaching that I can utilize in the future of my teaching career. Overall, I truly enjoyed creating this lesson and am anxious to use this teaching style as well as explore other methods of teaching.
