Chapter 1
"Let me give you two boys some sound advice," Gabby said
standing at his desk, pointing his stubby finger at Wilson and
Matt. "Stay away from that shack and that man. He could be
very dangerous. You never know who you're dealing with now
days."

"Okay!" Wilson threw his hands in the air.

"No problem," said Matt.

"We'll stay away. Now can we finish our game?" Wilson
pointed toward the chessboard in front of them.
Gabby sighed deeply. He sat down, re-adjusted the gold
rimmed glasses on his nose, and nodded his head. His over
gelled salt and pepper hair didn't budge even a fraction of an
inch.

Wilson watched the serious look fade from Gabby's
normally happy face. He glanced over at Matt who�d been his
best friend for as long as he could remember. Both were around
twelve years old, however, Wilson was at least three inches
taller with brownish gray eyes and dark brown hair while Matt
had gray eyes and light brown hair.

Wilson and Matt had met Gabby when they wandered into
the railroad station for a cold drink of water one hot summer
afternoon. They�d noticed a well-maintained air conditioner and
made themselves at home in front of it. The new Station Master,
Mr. Gabeldon, was a short, plump man, about fifty five years old.

Gabby, as the boys quickly nicknamed him, was sitting at
his desk leaning back in his chair, watching them. He appeared
almost lifeless as they walked toward the water fountain. Then,
he reached into his desk drawer and pulled out a chessboard,
