Minerva

NOTE: A few spoilers ahead. I'll try not to spill anything really major.

If you've read my story at the Fan Fic Store, you've probably heard of her, but you probably didn't think she would be Quasi's love (particually since my last chapter there said she was dead...). Well, I didn't expect the Fan Fic Store to disappear, and I'm sick of that cliffhanger, so I'll spill the beans now and give you a sneek peek at what's to come.

The twin sister of Phoebus de Chateaupers' disappeared from Paris in late 1472, leaving all to assume her dead. Ten years later she reappears, giving very vauge explanations of her disappearance, but winning the admiration and deep friendship of Quasimodo.

Minerva is tall, with wavy blonde hair, royal blue eyes, a short stub of a nose, a double chin, and a wide smile. She has been living in Germany for the past ten years as a dressmaker, so she speaks with a strong German accent. She's quite different from Phoebus. Like him, she enjoys good humor and has a tendency to get tight with people, but she has more spunk and a little more brain. In some ways, she resembles Esmeralda more than she does Phoebus, but she and Esmeralda have a very rocky relationship.

Quasimodo and Minerva become very close friends as they help Esmeralda and Phoebus prepare for their wedding. Quasi becomes intriged with her individual outlook on life, her charm, her sense of humor, and her deep feeling for others. Minerva becomes equally facinated with Quasi's creativity, his humility, his compassion, and his gentle soul. They begin to fall in love, but neither will admit it to the other. Quasi is afraid of suffering a broken heart yet again, while Minerva feels unworthy to be loved for deep reasons that I can't tell you right now: it would spoil the story!

Minerva is MUCH better than Madellaine. Her jokes are actually funny, she doesn't let any stupid ringmasters push her around, and she's her own woman. And the whole story is more mature than the sequel, which means no big hat jokes, no lipstick print kisses, no shouting out "I LOVE SO AND SO," and no endless hammering the moral in. Also, it takes them longer than a day to fall in love.

Right about when Quasi begins to realize his love for Minerva, the dark reason for her disappearance is revealed. I can't say too much for it would spoil the story, but I will say Quasi will have to struggle between love and justice. You'll find out what I mean by that when the story is finished.
