This is the first and goriest installment in the series. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film features some of the goriest scenes in horror film history. In fact it is the scariest film in my opinion, of all horror.
The film begins when 5 students go up to an abandoned cabin for a weekend. Just a couple of teenagers going to have fun. But when they discover an ancient book and a recording, an evil is unleashed.
It begins to posses each students one by one. And the only way to stop and destroy each possesed member, is by dismembering their bodies. Now as they each go, it's up to Ash to stop the evil once and for all.

STORY:
Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn is the second installment and my personal favorite of the series. The film combines plenty of horror and gore, with hints of comedy. Sam Raimi was not able to get the footage from the first film, so he began this one with new footage, summarizing the previous film. This time Ash goes to the woods with only his girlfriend, Linda. Ash discovers The Book of The Dead (Necronomicon) along with a recording from a professor. The words in the recording unleash an evil in the woods and the evil takes control of Linda. Ash then has to kill Linda unfortunately with a shovel.
Then the film picks up where the previous one left off. The evil is rushing towards Ash and knocks him back, throwing him through the woods in a funny scene. The evil then goes into ash, but he is saved due to the sunlight coming up. Ash tries to leave the woods in his Oldsmobile, but discovers that the bridge has been destroyed. He is forced to return to the cabin.
Meanwhile the professor's daughter and boyfriend are going up to the woods to see him. Little do they know that he isn't there. After killing his girlfriend again, with a chainsaw, the evil takes control of Ash's right hand, and he is forced to lop it off with the chainsaw.
Later on, the couple arrives along with two other hillbilly guides only to find Ash with shotgun in hand. Quickly they accuse Ash of killing the professor and his wife Henrietta, and lock him in the cellar. But after hearing a recording in which the professor explains what he has accidently done, they learn the truth. Ah though has met a new friend in the cellar, a possesed Henrietta. They quickly let Ash out. Now Ash and the rest are fighting against the evil for their lives. In the ultimate showdown, Ash is left with shotgun and chainsaw attached to his hand. But in the ned he still isn't out of trouble, he's been transported back to the medieval ages.
